TOPIC: Token guide errata

Re: Token guide errata 16 years 1 month ago #13

Dave,

Per a question on another thread - do you have to wear the Ring of Regeneration in a full room to get it's healing effect? Or, can you put it on right before you enter a room, heal your point of damage, and then replace it with another ring for the room?

The token guide doesn't have any restrictions on it, making it sound like you as long as you are wearing it as you enter the room, you don't have to wear it during any of the rooms. I seem to recall a discussion saying you had to wear it for the entire room, but I don't see anything in the Token Guide. Now that there are different DM's per room, it would be very hard for them to know if someone had worn the Ring of Regeneration during the previous room or not.

Thanks!
Mike

Hi Dave,

The last I heard from Jeff, regarding the Dragonscale items, was that if you had all three (Shield / Armor / Helm) they gave a combined -10 to fire damage. If that is the case, the Token Guide should be updated to reflect that (and maybe the redone Dragonscale Shield when it comes out).

Thanks!
Mike

about the feedback loop. i didnt see it listed in the guide, so i was wondering exactly how it works...which is a simple answer until you think about the characters who get to slide two tokens.

"Immediately allows 1 re-slide in combat”

So it would only allow 1 re-slide. Would a ranger get to re-slide both weapon tokens? If a ranger could re-slide both weapon tokens, then would he have to re-slide both weapons, or could he chose to only re-slide one?

Will the Belt of Retrieval apply only to tokens marked "potion" or will it also apply to any potion-like items (such as oils and salves)?

Welp, I can confirm that one exists.

Was it an '04? If so, that would make the '04 set 37 rares, 37 uncommons, and 37 commons. Must've been somebody's favorite number.

I'm coming up with 38 commons, 38 uncommons and 29 rares in '03.

You only got tokens in both those years *during* the dungeon run, is that correct? Did y'all start out naked, fighting with your fists? (No wonder Henwy likes TD so much)

Trivia: without looking, can you remember which common and uncommon are different? Hint: one was discontinued, the other promoted to a rare (near as I can tell).

binia

Hi Binia,

I have the tri-fold sheet they handed out for 2004 when you bought a treasure token kit, and it had only 36 tokens of each variety on it.

Weapons were part of your character sheet in those early days. Weapon tokens became mandatory for playing in 2005.

I am looking at my records for 2003, and it also appears that there were 36 tokens of each variety.

Dave, can you check that 2003 included the scroll: comp languages, scroll: cure light (green); according to my records they came out in 2004. (It would make sense for the scroll to be 2004, because in 2003, there was the green potion of cure light wounds).

Also, there was a scroll of fly given out in 2005.

2003 - no scroll of comp languages, no scroll of cure light wounds
Specials existed in 2003 and 2004...

I have 2003 common and 2004 Rare...still have not seen an Uncommon from either year...but they existed as far as I know.

G

In 2003 there was a common, uncommon, and rare "special" (or brown, green, and red) The brown had one question mark, the green two, and the red three.

In 2004 there was only the rare (red) "special" token with three question marks.

2004 is also when the scroll of comprehend languages was added (common/brown) and the scroll of clw (uncommon/green) appeared.

ya, it's an 04. As of 04 you could buy token pouches before going in. dunno about 03

You could buy pouches in 03, yes. At least, until they sold out.

I think I heard that you could buy them at SOCAL in 2003, but not in Indy. Was that the case? I know I never saw any for sale in Indy in 2003, but we might have missed it.

Tokens were not available for purchase or treasure at the 2003 Indy event. Jeff created them and introduced them as a trial at SoCal. Many 2003 tokens found their way into the dungeon for the 2004 event as treasure.

I will make a ruling and post it in the guide.
Yes, there will be a combined effect, but I did not want to update that in the guide untill all came out.

The last guide out there is the pre-con guide. I fully intended to put out a post con guide that revealed all of the tokens that were special to the event (like the Feedback loop). I never got around to publishing the next version, so it will just become the v7.0 that I am working on now. All of the special tokens will be in there.

Dave
