First, let me thank Lori, Jeff and anyone else who had a hand in creating and distributing these tokens. It's really appreciated. I was pleasantly surprised today that my second wave order arrived. Given the backlog of preorders, I was expecting it might be early next week before I saw it. I haven't noticed any quality issues with my tokens, but can't say I've examined each one closely either.

Here is another tale of someone getting bitten by the token bug. If you read, it might be a little long, but thought I'd share anyways. With my first order of 60 bags I just kind of tore into them and had them opened in less than an hour. While I had some nice tokens, overall I have to admit to being slightly disappointed with my luck. So with a little trepedation and groveling to my wife (I'm sure I'll pay for this in another way later) I ordered another 30 bags. If nothing else, at least I get another PYP. I'm always playing something in the fighter class, although I generally end up providing tokens to my entire party. I already had the Amulet of Wonder and +1 Tower Shield. I was really tempted by the +1 Mighty Longbow, but decided if I played as the Ranger that the +1 Mithril Long Sword in the off hand was a little more tempting and went with that as my PYP. Of course, the first thing I do with my order is open the pouch and admire the precious purple token. It's always good to start an adventure with feelings of optimism and hope.

With this order I wanted to savor every token. So carefully, I opened the two smaller boxes and dumped the individual packs into the larger box careful not to even glance at the contents. Then one pack at a time I would reach my hand into the box, take an individual pack, and open it under the table, never looking at the contents. Once I opened the pack, I shuffled the tokens in my hand and then one by one looked at what treasure I had procured. As I read back what I've just typed, I can't believe how wonderfully silly this all sounds. All I can say is "Hey, it was fun at the time."

Well, my first pack had a 100 GP Blood Opal Ring. Not too useful in the dungeon, but it is gold. Now I won't bore you with the individual contents pack by pack, but after each pack I did jot down any noteworthy contents. After 4 packs I had pulled 3 100 GP Blood Opal Rings. Not exactly what I needed, but I kept telling myself "gold is good". And at least I didn't get another Scroll Chain Lightning (pulled 6 of those in my first 60 bags). Pack #7 yielded the first really useful token, a Belt of Retrieval. I had one in my previous order, but now I had one for my friend to use. That was cool. Packs 8 and 9 contained one each of the Ioun Stones. That also was nice. Pack 10 had my first Salve of Shadowvein I've pulled this year. Packs 11 through 19 were not too exciting, although I did get 2 more Tower Shields. Those seem to be in some demand.

On pack 20 I pulled a Scroll Chain Lightning. Ouch, my 7th this year. When pack 21 yielded another Scroll Chain Lightning, I had to slightly groan. Pack 24 had another Ioun Stone Faceted Amber, and this was actually my 4th this year, so that will be very nice for the rest of our party. In pack 25 I got my second Ring of Protection +1 this year and that was also nice. Well, five more packs to go and Chain Lightning aside I was feeling a little better about this order. Didn't see any URs to this point and since last year I had now gone 135+ consecutive packs without seeing one. I guess that's not horrible luck, but it's not great either. Pack 27 had a platinum Ring of Sanctuary. I was very happy with that. Pack 28 had another Scroll Chain Lightning and all I could do was laugh at this point. Pack 29 contained another Ring of Protection +1, always useful. And what's this? YES....it also had a +1 Mighty Longbow. Had to stare at that one for a little while letting it sink in that I pulled exactly the purp I wanted. Yes, this was for me an extremely good order of 30 bags. Well the last pack had a Potion Orcish Stout. That was the first one of those I had seen this year, so I was also very happy with that.

In total, I took a little over an hour opening these packs, and certainly that hour of fun and entertainment was worth part of the cost right there. I pulled a lot of good tokens. Still didn't have a full set of the rares, but can probably get by without the ones I was missing. I also had a pretty good pull of items worth gold with a total value of 1500GP. I think my friends should be very pleasantly surprised with tokens we have for our run this year. So let me just finish by again thanking everyone for the incredible amount of time they take to make True Dungeon a reality for the rest of us.
