What should the average number of gold, or items with a printed gold value per 2008 pack of tokens?

Math is fun. The tokens are listed on the TD site. It wouldn't take much to crunch the numbers.

I numbered the 2007 set top to bottom, from left to right.  <br /><br />40 Common<br />0gp 8-40<br />5gp 3,<br />10gp 1, 4<br />15gp 5, 6<br />20gp 2, 7<br /><br />5+10+10+15+15+20+20=95/40= 2.375 GP per common slot<br /><br />40 Uncommon<br />0gp 2-7, 10-40<br />30gp 1<br />50gp 8, 9<br /><br />30+50+50=130/40=3.25 GP per uncommon slot<br /><br />40 Rare<br />0gp 1-8, 13-36, 38-40<br />75gp 9, <br />100gp 10, <br />200gp 11, 12<br />250gp 37<br />75+100+200+250=625/40=15.625 GP per rare slot<br /><br />Rare 15.625<br />Uncommon 3.25 x2 = 6.5<br />Common 2.375 x7 = 16.625<br />$10 Pack = 38.75 GP<br /><br />So if 1GP = $0.05, than one $10 pack would get you $1.9375 in GP value . . . along with non GP items?<br />

And for trading value of the non-gold, you could go look in the price guides.<br /><br />However, if you are thinking of trading, realize there are no buyers for common tokens and very few of the uncommon tokens can be sold either.  Most rare tokens will sell at +/- 50% of the price guide price.    <br />

Do you have a version of the guide?<br /><br />I think it would be fun setting up as a trader.  So if you set up shop at GenCon trading, just about no one will buy common or uncommon tokens with gold?

some folks might, but not likely.

You might find some people that are just starting out, that might be interested in some basic gear, or some common & uncommon consumables.  But of course they might not have much gold.<br /><br />If you want to set up as a trader though, you might have a fun time - there are several people that do it every year.  The more the merrier! 

last year i brought my tokens and set up for trading on thursday.  and while most people arent interested in the commons or uncommons, the ones who are you can make good deals that both sides are very happy with.  most newer players have no use for GP, but still need various basic items...i would definitely print up the most recent price guide before gencon, while it isnt the absolute authority on pricing, it gives newer players confidence that they are getting a fair deal, especially if they are handing you their only GP for some non-rare tokens.

There are also some people that have so many tokens that they are happy to give away some commons to people who need it.  Really, there is only so many things that a person can do with 200 suits of studded leather.

I like the way  Kurtreznor thinks.  It's nice to run a shop like that for the less-equipped players.  Makes GP for you and gets them the items they need.<br /><br />What sickens me a bit is this:  I was told by one person that several individuals were taking the PLATs or Specials off the hands of unknowing players for as little as 25GP worth of equipment or GP-value tokens.  That's just nuts in most cases. 

Well you could start circulating those people's names to lots of people, and we could all frown at them.

I think you'd be surprised at how many of them are large token buyers. A couple are even forumites, though none of the really prolific ones.
