TOPIC: How does the whole token thing work at GenCon?

How does the whole token thing work at the convention?  <br /><br />What is a combo-token?  Do you turn in certain tokens at the convention to get a special token?<br /><br />What is this pick your purple idea?  If I buy the $1000 pack of tokens, then do I get to pick the 4 purples that I get?  Or was that a one time sale to get rid of the remaining 2007 tokens?<br /><br />Does anyone have an open slot in there 2008 GenCon group for a new player?  I would be interested in trying several of the games out.<br />

<br />How does the whole token thing work at the convention?  <br /><br />TD sells tokens at the Con - but does not have the special sales that they are putting on now...You might see something like a 10 pack on sale, but nothing like the PYP package.<br /><br />What is a combo-token?  Do you turn in certain tokens at the convention to get a special token?<br /><br />Yes, a combo-token is an item that is "purchased" by trading in other tokens and maybe GP only at the event.  There are certain times when the trading can happen so keep an ear open for that.<br /><br />What is this pick your purple idea?  If I buy the $1000 pack of tokens, then do I get to pick the 4 purples that I get?  Or was that a one time sale to get rid of the remaining 2007 tokens?<br /><br />The PYP is a repeat sales special happening in 2008 to reward (or tempt) people that buy at certain levels.  At the $1K level you get to pick 4 PURPS 2 of them can be PROOF PURP tokens.<br /><br />Does anyone have an open slot in there 2008 GenCon group for a new player?  I would be interested in trying several of the games out.<br /><br />It is good that you announce your search early...the sooner the better as groups are already talking.<br /><br />

Are the tokens that you turn in for the combo-tokens ever ultra rares.  Are they very hard to put together?

So far the combo ingredients have all been Rare, Uncommon, or Common tokens, plus sometimes dungeon-only ingredient tokens (there were three in 2006 and another 3 in 2007).  Some combo tokens have had multiple "recipes", where you could either trade in tokens including ingredient tokens or a trade in tokens not including ingredient tokens.  The combo tokens and their trade-in tokens haven't been announced yet for this year. 

What is a PROOF PURP token?  A protype?

Also one year I think I read in the convention book that there was a store, do you think they will bring that back?  It seems like a neat idea to be able to buy things.

<br /><br />Neat idea - not so neat to implement...long story here - but TD has thought this over and for now it is a thing best left on hold - or in the past.  At least that is my take on it.

<br /><br />The players that are higher level based on experience get to pick their characters first.  If you can get in with a group on the forum and let them know in advance what class you want to be, that would probably be easiest but don't think that if you just buy 1 ticket to a TD run with people you don't know that you won't be able to be the class that you want.<br />Now you have to decide if you want to do a regular run or a Nightmare run... or try both.... multiple times  =D

multiple runs are a good thing  =D, But yeah alot of eople can get you into a group or you can start one in the forming groups area we are doing a run this year where you can only speak in questions.... So this should be interesting to say the least... But hopefully I will be a part time or full time dm and I can go on my 2 runs before i schedule anymore
