Jeff - just double-checking....

"To add in a bit of fun for all our collectors, we are inserting 16 special Golden Ticket tokens into the group of first-run 2008 tokens (which should sell out by June)."

Initially, I thought the golden tickets were going to be in the Pre-Order sales, which should be from what, 2/1 until about 3/25. That's not many days. Sounds like you chose to distribute the GTs throughout the total sales from 2/1 until the first batch of tokens (undisclosed number of tokens) runs out, possibly around June - so over the course of about four months of sales.

Is that about right?

Thanks.

The probability of winning a golden ticket is most likely tied to the number of treasure token bags sold in the first run.

Out of curiosity is there a law saying that you need to announce the chance of winning such a contest? How does all this stuff work? What about writing in to get a free chance? Is there a law about that? I really don’t know, but contests in my state often have rules like that.

First reaction based upon a PM someone sent me prior to this posting: "the headaches begin."

Second Reaction: It's just another token in the stack. I don't believe Magic the Gathering or any other collectible card game allows you to "write in for one free pack." So, the short answer is, "no."
I'm no lawyer. I would guess, however, that if it's treated as a "contest" of some sort, then maybe other rules would apply. If, however, its treated as a unique token with unique in-game functions, then it won't fall prey to the "contest" laws.

JKW

At any rate getting a golden token is uber cool! I hope the golden run has lots of cool loot like trasure boxes full of ultra rares! Perhaps a wish ring in the box?

Yep. The Golden Tickets will distributed amongst the entire first run of tokens -- which should probably sell out by June. That is when they sold out last year. I am not sure when the pre-order premium of getting a "proof" token will expire -- as there is no way to exactly tell when the tokens will arrive. We wil announce it in the newsletter when we have a deadline set. It should be around March 20th.
