What's the diff between a fighter and a warlord? A wizard and a warlock (is that like a sorceror?)

Warlord looks like it'll be like the marshal class. Basically they will give 'aura' bonuses. I'm not sure what they'll call it in 4th ed, but in 3rd, they were auras. They make people around them better. Bards will probably also slot into the 'leader' role whenever they finally make an appearance.

As for warlocks, they'll apparently be different in lotsa ways. No vancian system at all, for one. Even the wizard is losing most of its vancian aspects. It says that a wizard with no spell slots left would still be at 80% effectiveness. Warlocks will still get an eldritch blast as primary, which despite how they work the remaining bits will be its iconic role.

It won't be all that hard to adopt warlocks to TD. You can make 'blast tokens' and the like. Whozits that upgrade or modify the eldrich blasts most likely.

I'm only familiar with Warlocks from NWN2 and they were a rather unpopular class. Hopefully they'll be worked a bit better in 4th edition.

Anyway, just to weigh in on the cleric discussion, I don't necessarily mind the # of healing spells being reduced, but what is to fill those spell slots? I'd be happy with other types of non-situation specific augmentation magic, but I'm dead against just removing those spells without replacement, and quite lackluster about replacing them either with situation specific spells like slow poison or wimpy low level cleric attack spells.

Personally I like the cleric as is. Reducing his healing capability too much can severely hamper the whole point of being a cleric...possibly turning him into a lamed paladin with a few more weak spells.

Let's also bear in mind that your casual player probably doesn't have the beads memorized and will in most cases not guess correctly. In fact, since I was busy in the bathroom while the briefing was occuring, I didn't get to go over the beads at all, so I defaulted to selecting a bead in the middle, assuring me at least average healing.

Come to think about it, how about introducing D&D-esque spontaneous casting? Remove healing spells entirely, but allow the cleric to substitute a spell he has for a healing spell of equal level. When doing this, the spells always provides the same amount of healing, say 5 points for cure light wounds and 10 for cure moderate?

This gives and takes, assuring the cleric isn't over-powered with healing while giving them a few more spells and casting versatility.

I'm a newer player and was able to make my first run as a cleric at Gen Con 2017. I was wondering if anyone knows whether TD sells the cleric beads or if they're available anywhere? If this question is totally taboo or breaks any rules, I apologize. That is definitely not my intention, I just thought it'd be really cool to have a set to trick out my dice bag. Thanks.

Not taboo to ask, but no, they don't sell them. They're supposed sometimes available at certain craft stores, but I've never seen them anywhere.

Welcome to True Dungeon!

In general, True Dungeon doesn't make the skill test items available outside of True Dungeon. Congratulations though on finding a nearly 10 years old thread referencing cleric beads. It's always fun to see old threads resurrected. :)

Thank you for letting me know. I will keep an eye out whenever I find myself in a crafts store.

 This was the closest thread I could find to the subject. I could tell how old it was based off of how healing used to work (-1 for each bead difference)!

One person reported a year or two ago that he found the cleric beads at a well-known craft store. I did my own investigating, both on-line and at my local instance of the craft store he mentioned. I definitely found some beads that matched the style of beads used in the cleric skill test, but they were not the correct beads. I've been playing clerics in TD since 2003 and I'm very familiar with them. I am 100% certain those beads would be of no use to you. But they might look cool on a tricked-out dice bag.

If you want to do your own detective work, that's your business. But if perchance you do stumble on a set of beads that are an exact match, maybe don't brag about your success at cheating.

It's okay to make new threads.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?
Please post TDb corrections in this thread .
