TOPIC: Question about UR's

Question about UR's 16 years 7 months ago #1

I am a Relatively new player (this was year #2), and though i am collecting many tokens, I have only 1 UR, which was a gift (for volunteering)...I am curious... it seems there are very few ways to get UR's one is a very lucky draw from a treasure box, 2 is a lucky bag. discounting the various palyer driven way (rouges game..etc) the only method seems to be spend a satck of cash either buying up to the $250 range through Jeff, or the 100$ range throu E-bay.

am I correct (in general) about these being the ways to get them?

I'm not complaining, mind you... if anyone could get them easy, they wouldn't be all that rare...

Ultra Rares are just that Ultra Rare...they are the original chase tokens if you will.

They are really hard to get and are treasured by those that have them.

Trades are the primary way for most to get their hands on them. eBay and large token buys from TD are also pretty common.

It does not take long (if you really dive into collecting) and soon you will have difficulty remembering the first UR token you owned. I've been at it for 4 years, and I don't recall anyways...

Write things down for kicks if you plan to keep buying/collecting - it is really fun to see what you traded when and what you got from whom...

Enjoy!
I know where and when I got each of my Purps... (all 6 of them). And it's actually more than I thought I'd ever have.
Only one of them will ever be considered for trade - all the others hold a special significance to me because of how I acquired them.

Well with over 60 Ultra Rares...can you blame me forgetting the first?!?

Of course there are some I will not ever forget...

Raven and the RoR gift!!!!
Jeff's Volunteer RoR gift!!!!
Smak trading me the Plate+1 1:1 (might have been one of the last few for a .COM set...)
Getting my Gearon's Mace!
The Trade with Widseth for the +1 RoP
Sorry - there are more that I have written down...those are just off the top of my now tired brain.

Sure, Bro ... list everyone else's name associated with the PURPs, but forget that it was your Bro that traded you your Gearon's Mace....

(I get no respect)

Nope, no secret, but thanks for keeping it if you thought it was a secret.

That was my first Ultra-Rare, I got it as a "00" bag. It was doubly cool because trading it to you was my first Token trade, which was the perfect way to get introduced into token trading =)

I think your summary is pretty accurate, d_black_se.

As other people pointed out, trading is also a good way to get URs. It's hard, of course, to get people to trade URs without having URs to trade them in return, or having scads of red tokens to trade, but sometimes you can find the right deal.
A lot of it depends on how much time you want to spend on it. If you hang out in front of the event, or in the tavern, and talk with lots and lots of newbies - giving them advice on good tactics in the dungeon (without actually giving away secrets), or suggestions on equipment to bring - or hey, even offering newbie groups free armour/weapons/scrolls, if you've got the common or uncommon tokens to spare - then it generates a lot of goodwill, and sometimes they'll be willing to trade you cool stuff they've found in the dungeon. If nothing else, you get to hear cool stories and meet a lot of interesting people.

The thing is, these forums are a very skewed example of UR distribution. Most of the players have never owned an UR, and only a few buy enough tokens to put themselves in the ballpark where they could trade for one. It's just that those people tend to hang out on the forums a lot ;)

Sounds like my first token experience.
First purchase $250 in 2006 (no PYP Promo). '00' pull of Dragonscale shield. Had no idea of the significance it would one day have...
Traded it to George and George did me nicely on the trade.

It's just been raining UR's this year. Far easier to acquire than at any point in the past due to the increased number floating around.

Quick question without having to start a new thread...

Have any of you ever pulled a UR as part of dungeon treasure?
