I like that term.

The Arsenal thing was just an idea that if a player amassed 50 of a certain type of weapon - they could get an Arsenal token of that item. Granted there would be way too many of these tokens needed - one for each weapon...but only a chosen group could be made each year...??

Arsenal tokens would be just like Reserve tokens for GP - but counting each weapon token as 1 unit and each Arsenal token would be earned at say 50 units.

Just seems more real to me to turn in 50 Daggers and get a Dagger Arsenal Token instead of a Refined Steel Token.

Even if the refined steel token was the main ingredient in a new combo bladed weapon?

Oh, just go ahead and make me regret trading away 250 common tokens.

How do you get refined steel from already forged steel...is there really a way to take mass quantities and get something better in quality?

Hey it all works...but I was thinking we all had fun seeing how many Daggers and such we had - people were saying they had enough gear to outfit an orc army or what not...Arsenal Tokens would prove it in a small compact token count.

There is forged steel, then high carbon steel. I am thinking of the difference in refinement by the Japanese, or alloys.

I understand your desire to, have an accounting, but if the ore or refined steel takes a certain number of common bladed weapons, you will have a count of sorts.

Dave
Remember ages back when I kicked around a suggestion of donating to the greyhawkian orphans fund? (The orphans of all the poor adventurers who die in the dungeon) I'd like to float that idea again as a means to bleed unwanted tokens out of circulation and recycle them. People can donate tokens and each token can have a GP donation value based on rarity like 1, 20, 50 for C, U, R. I wouldn't mind seeing all of that getting mixed up with the various other sources of grab-bag tokens from pass years and then all being churned out for charity. Put it into a giant barrel or something and for $5 people can blindly reach in with a coffee mug and pull out a cupful. All proceeds can go to some charity, much like the feedback loops this year. It'd be a nice way to raise some money and it wouldn't actually cost TD anything other than, well, a barrel and a coffee mug. Those who donate the most can have their names put up on some sort of plaquey thing hanging in the tavern. If this caught on as a reoccuring charity event, it'd be really spiffy if the plaque could have people added to it each year.

Actually, they already have those... no extra cost incurred!
Hooray!

I agree that this is a cool idea.

Sounds interesting.

The only drawback is that the main number of tokens would probably be common and uncommon with very little rares and no URs (unless Jeff put some in).
If the ratios are know, not too many people would "donate" $5 for a mug-full as no one would want to pay $5 for a bunch of commons and uncommons.
In addition, what's to keep people from getting a large amount of commons or uncommons and re-donating them for the GP value? Again, and again, and again...

Just tossing out concerns.
