TOPIC: 77 Commons

77 Commons 16 years 7 months ago #1

I have 77 common coins of various weapons, armor, and items which I'd like to off-load in exchange for gold pieces. I know some of you like to have backup gear so please let me know how much in gold coins you would be willing to buy this lot for.

Also, feel free to PM me with questions about what is precisely included.

I have 1000 common tokens I would like to unload, if you can find a sucker to buy yours please pass his name on to me.

Actually I traded 250 common wooden tokens to Jammies, so there are some buyers out there.

Well, I wasn't expecting much gold at all, and was looking for something like one 5 gold piece chip for every 3 commons. This would work out to about 128 gold for the whole lot.

What I'm realizing however is that the cost for me to ship 77 tokens probably outstrips the cash value of 128 gold pieces, at least judging by the spreadsheet on this site.

Well, it seems to me that the cash value for gold equals about the amount of the gold x 3 cents. I.E a 5 gold piece token is worth 15 cents.

So, rounding up, 130 gold should be valued at around $3.90 if I'm not off too wildly. So, I would basically be giving away tokens while taking a loss on shipping. Still, since I just plain need gold judging by the massive amounts it apparently takes to have any shot at an auction, it's a worthwhile trade for me.

In any event, if I get no takers, as it seems will be the case, the alternative might be to wait until next year's gencon and set up a "bartering outpost" for new players to "buy" basic gear with gold in the event their packs don't include what they wanted...actually, that even kinda sounds like an opportunity for some fun role-playing. =D

Don't you want to save any of the commons for possible future reserve tokens?

No, he needs the GP/Gems/Jewelry for Reserve Tokens.

The common items MAY be used for some special type of "ingredient" tokens in the future.
I forget what name Dave gave to them. My rememberance is that Dave said the basic idea would be to take x number of items (such as Daggers) and turn them into something like 1 token of "Bar of Iron."

These "ingredient" tokens could then later be used for Combos.

Let's hope we see this for 2008.

JKW

I know, but hadn't Dave called those reserve tokens, also, since they will have gp 'values' printed on them?

I would hold on to the commons until next year's con. Even if you do a trade you can arrange to bring them to the convention and do the swap there.

Kim

Well if something happens that allows me to put these commons to some better use, such as melting them down into a bar of iron that will go towards creating a combo item, that would be cool.

On the other hand most of the combo items tend to be for collectors only as they aren't typically all that mighty from what I've seen, and more gold/ jewelry means more auction bidding power on items that are typically very nice.

So...either way.

I dont know about that. I think the combo tokens have quite a bit of power. The throwing dagger is great for some classes and the spider silk shirt is just awesome.
