um, no...<br /><br />I think save throws will continue to play a big part in the game...the +4 rings are Awesome, when combined with base bonus and others items...cloak, helm...etc.

One was given to each volunteer, so ~40 in existence, I do not remember how many volunteers we had total, but we were still at the Hyatt and there was no tavern yet.

<br /><br />Making saving throws is important but how often does you roll for saves?  I think I rolled for a save once against the Shambling Mound?

There was also the possiblity of having to make a save vs turning to stone if you looked at the medusa, or against poison if she hit you.<br />

Most of the Beholder's eye attacks required saves and the Wraith required a save against Wraith Rot.

As I recall, I had to make three saves on one run - once VS the medusa, and twice vs the beholder.  All three saves were made and the rings I had on came into play!  As did the Cloak and the Helm...I'm just big on making saves as usually if you miss them - bad things happen.  (disintegrate or death ray come to mind!)<br /><br />

yep - but as a Cleric - I have a lousy REF bonus...maybe +3 (counting cloak)??  So I give that one up all together and focus on the two that are my strengths.  That being said - I think that adds a little to my case that the Save throw rings are very handy.<br /><br />Of course the top two SWAP rings are the Ring of Focus and the Ring of Regen...I used the RoF at INDY 07...and I will continue to SWAP it on as needed.<br /><br />But gone are the days of +1 Ring of Protection.

<br />Don't forget the value of the slot in your equation - by wearing the RoR - you lose one Ring slot...where you can carry 1000 potions if you so choose.  The RoR is actually below a 5pt Heal in my book.<br />

<br /><br />Yes.  Great Point.  I should have stated this information.  I take it for granted that anyone who wants to survive TD would wear something other than a Ring of Regeneration.  I think the HC people I saw wearing them simply wore them for their memories - as they knew they had the tokens to bring them back from death and heal them.<br /><br />
