TOPIC: What Is/Was The Purpose of this Token?

<br />Sorry...I don't like to repeat stuff too much -- at least not in consecutive years.  I would image you would see one in 2009.<br /><br /><br />

<br /><br />Assuming you still do the "pick your favorite purple" option in 2009, I expect that the UR special will be nearly as popular as the horn was this year.<br /><br />

<br /><br />Although in 2009 maybe it will just give all the party extra hit points for the adventure or something instead of a PURP token.  Even next year there's no guarantee it will get you something as cool as it did this year.  The Special has never been the same from year to year. 

Purp "?" token <br /><br />It will cause everyone in your party to start the adventure at 1 hit poit! All do to a little magical box you opened!<br /><br />Of course you are perfectly fine!<br /><br />Oh and they all believe it is from you attacked them!!

No... <br /><br />You have to slide with your non-dominant hand, with your back toward the table, and your eyes closed...  if you land on 9*, you get 250 free bags of tokens!  Anything else means you get to pay Jeff $5.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />*no 9 appears on the table<br /><br />

I think it's time for the '?' to be a Curse! An amusing and non-lethal curse, please... but at least something cool to make people really worry about the next year.<br /><br />Something like having to wear an eye-patch (ooh, that'd do weird things to your depth perception for the combat tables) or crippling one arm (so no using a shield, two-handed weapons, or offhand-weapon for Ranger!) or maybe an overwhelming desire to jump into deep pits to see if there's any treasure at the bottom!<br /><br />(jumps) Wheee!<br /><br />    - Raven

Personally, if I get (pick or random, but especially if I pick/buy) a UR Special, I would expect it to have a "beneficial" affect.<br />However, if TD wants to throw in some Rare Specials or something where some are cursed or have a weired in-game affect, that's fine with me.

I have to agree with John.  With the Special token being a purp, I too would expect the effect to be a good one.  Otherwise you take the chance of ticking someone off whose spent a minimum of 250 dollars on tokens before the con.<br /><br />Kim

The problem with the special will be hoarding. People will likely save them until a really good effect year hits. Then, instead of just getting that year's specials turned in, there will be an avalanche of turnins from all previous UR specials too. That could really frak with the system if it involves something that needs to be prepped in advance like tokens or props or whatever.
