TOPIC: What Is/Was The Purpose of this Token?

<br />Some of these got dumped into circulation back in 2005 when we ran out of tokens to sell.   I got a red ? ? ? , I think I traded it to Raven for an elixer of life.  <br />

Then I found you looking for an Elixir, I traded it to you for another Special [nobbc]???[/nobbc]. I'd been planning to trade it for another Elixir again at the shop, but they were out of Elixirs, so I kept it.<br /><br />This year, I traded that same [nobbc]???[/nobbc] token to Mike for an UR Special ? and I got myself the +2 Bracers.<br /><br />Good trades all around, I think.

Anyone else notice the purple light shown on the token to give it a slight hue?  Maybe trying to extract a few higher bids on it.

The token pictured is only a common "brown" special.  Regardless of the light, you can tell because it only has one question mark.  It is fairly rare in the sense that few were made and are still in circulation, but it is not a UR as described or at least hinted at.  in 2006 the "specials" were merely mulligans for the game.  If you are a collector and want one for nostalgia, bid on it.  I would not go after it with the expectation that it will be treated like the newer UR "special" tokens though.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Dave

I wouldn't mind having a set of Specials. It would make for a pretty nice display.

Anything but the UR Special is now handled like a rumor token.<br /><br />There won't be a Special token in 2008, but there still might be a few left to turn in from 2007.  Any UR Special turned in will have another weird effect.<br /><br />

<br /><br />Erf. I just traded for a special and it's zipping about somewhere in a USPS van right about now most likely. I had been hoping UR specials would stick around for 2008.

There won't be any UR Specials printed in 2008, but you can still turn in a 2007 UR Special for something cool in 2008.
