TOPIC: 2008 Purple Token Survey!

Re: 2008 Purple Token Survey! 16 years 7 months ago #25

I thought about that as well and based on what I saw I think that you have no chance of pulling the top purps from random draws.

well, i can say that my horn of plenty came after the pick-your-purp deal. not in a bag, but as one of my random URs.
I'm sorta curious about distribution skew with so many people having picked up a HoP during pre-orders. I never heard anything about anyone finding one in a random pack at gencon and I heard rumors at least of people pulling just about everything else.
When I was stuffing bags and such, I never saw a HoP, I did see Dragonscale armor, GoH, and Holy Swords, though.
Its funny how something that takes multiple days to set up comes down in a few hours...

I got a horn in a bag. It was the only purple I got in the 120 bags I bought, but I was quite happy with it.

I got the HoP as a random purp for a quanity buy. However, in the 125+ bags I've bought over the last 13 months, I've managed to get 0 purps. Perhaps my next month's $95 special will have 2 in it, or the next one or the one after that. Sooner or later the random distribution will have to balance itself out. Then again with my luck...

hmmm, I've bought around 250-300 bags over the years and gotten 1 random UR, the sapphire necklace. I think that qualifies as a statistical kick in the teeth too.

Not really that big of a kick in the teeth. You've only effectively had 2 1/2-3 trials so it is not at all unlikely that would happen. Now, if that didn't even out over the course of purchasing several thousand bags, then we might call you an outlier.
Insolent fool, why are you not yet kneeling?!?!

i think they definatly need to keep the pick your UR thing going. i mean when you think about it this game can only be played 3 days of the year, and when you play you will want to use the best chip for your build. if TD was a game that could be played anytime it would be a different story.
Some of the discussions in the "Money and Gem Tokens" thread got me thinking so I thought I'd do a little unofficial survey regarding what the fellas at True Dungeon should do with tokens next year. Please post your responses!

#1. For 2008, should TD continue the Choose Your Own PURP program (at least initially, for each $XXX order), stick with the Randomized PURP (per $XXX order), or nix the idea altogether (going back to relying on the "00" bags)? Why?

Choose Your Own PURP program, for each $150 order

#2. What are the top three Purples printed in 2007 that should be taken out of circulation?

Special, Scepter of the Dead, i don't know

#3. What are the top three Purples printed in 2007 that should be continued for next year?

+2 flaming short bow, +1 plate armor, mithral chainmail

#4. What are the top three Purples NOT printed in 2007, that should be reprinted and returned to circulation next year?

Ring of Regeneration , Gearon's +2 Heavy Hace (d8+2) (+3 vs undead) & Frenkle's Cowbell
