TOPIC: Rules Question on Rings

Re: Rules Question on Rings 16 years 7 months ago #37

However, Cleric and Druid are not as likely to benefit from the damage effect because they need to wear the Ring of Focus during combat.

Don't forget, Druids have Produce Flame! :D

Yes, I know. I played the Druid 3 times at GenCon and used Produce Flame every run. But I never cast it while wearing the Ring of Focus. (Always kept on a Ring of Protection and either Ring of Fortitude or Iron Will instead). Better options for the Druid to wear during combat because the Focus would only help 2 or 3 spells (saved the Cures for after combat). For the Wizard, just about all of your cast spells during combat (minus Shield) will benefit so there is a stronger incentive to wear the Ring during combat.
hehehe - and hopefully when they do change I'm not the one finding them online and stringing dozens of them...hehehe...

Pfft. Bullpucky. Like any of us believe that. You'd love to be the one finding them and putting them together to have the huge head start in memorizing them.

yup - I'd do it again in a heartbeat - it was a fun labor of love...you caught me Henwy... :icon_spiderman:
If your not confident in your dieties you can not be a true cleric.

Untrue. I'm a cleric of the Patron God of low self-esteem.

Better than a cleric of the Patron Saint of Quality Footwear....lol

+1 just seems a little tame to me for a Purp Spell Booster. It's not like it gets a +1 to HIT or anything (like a +2 Longsword that gets two bonuses, a +2 to Hit and a +2 to Damage).

I haven't used mine in the dungeon, however, so perhaps I shouldn't comment until I see it in action. Spellcaster items just seem weaker, in general, to me than the Fighter-type equipment in this game.

However, I totally go for the pump up the Wizard (and others) received this year. I didn't need the RoF with those boosts. Hm...I guess that devaluates the ring a bit more, doesn't it?

Oh well, I still love purps. It's nice to own a RoF.

JKW

The RoF is a nice carry along item...it gets used as long as the rules permit swapping on a ring mid-room.

If the rules change and rings have to be worn the entire adventure - I'd never consider using a RoF. Likewise a RoR - I would not ever consider using that ring either.

The +4 save rings are totally sweet! I wore two of them on each of 4 adventures this year!
