TOPIC: Treasure Tokens on Ebay Ending Friday 13 July

Re: Treasure Tokens on Ebay 16 years 9 months ago #25
I certainly see the appeal to bidding on a particular item / items on Ebay (and I've done it tons myself, with Magic as well as True Dungeon), if you see an item that you know you need, it is worth paying a premium to get that item instead of buying random items cheaper and hoping you get what you need.

Agreed, Mike. I too, see the value in providing tokens on Ebay. I'd love to have snagged a few sets of tokens myself. Unfortunately, most bidders are more bloodthirsty than I and are willing to spend more money than I on True Dungeon Tokens. I'm like that with Dwarven Forge OOP items though.
BTW, I've been meaning to say: Welcome to the TD Forum, Binia.

Just hollar if you have questions, want a trade, etc.. The people here usually jump right in.

JKW
Heh. That's probably why certain consumables are much more highly valued. :)

Let's see, out of 3000 tokens, I had about 13 or 14 PoDD.
That means I had to spend an average of $230 to find each PoDD. It's the only Rare token that'll bring your character back from the dead. Yeah; I'm gong to value that more than a Great Sword +1. Can I interest you in one of the 40+ Magic Missile scrolls I have? The 40 Burning Hands? 40 or 50 Shocking Grasp? I don't value those tokens as much as a PoDD.

Yeah; I turned in the five elixer's of life I burned last year. I used up a Wand of Lightningbolts, too, although I still have that used token (it wasn't taken by the DM, so now it's a souvenier for me).

Magic - what's that? Just kidding. I've never played. Perhaps, if we have time, you can teach me at the con. When I first heard of it, I stayed away from it because I thought it would be such a poor substitute for D&D. However, it is Different than D&D and it can be played with much fewer players.

JKW

Sounds great, John! I expect my friends and I will be playing Magic for several hours each day of GENCON. We'll also be doing lots of role-playing as well, plus 3-4 True Dungeon runs!

Noooo! Run away John, quickly in the other direction.... unless you have a whole room in your house to devote to *magic cards*. Or just go straight to crack - at least with that, there's no storage issues.

Lol.

Actually, I figured I was asking Binia to show me Magic, since she said she is, or was?, an avid player.
Of course, I'd love to socialize with you, too, Mike.

Really, I'm thinking I may have to cancel some D&D games and/or a TD run. As it is now, my schedule is so booked, I don't have any time to socialize - or sleep (about 3.5 hours per night).

*whimper*

No, I wouldn't normally do this to myself. A friend is coming along and she wanted to do as much as possible. She's also younger and may have more energy than I do. Perhaps the old man should have said when enough was enough. If I survive, though, I'm sure it'll all have been lots of fun.

I hope to make time to socialize with everyone.

JKW

Actually, this year, other than True Dungeon runs, I haven't scheduled a single event. All my non-True Dungeon time will be spend playing casual games with my friends or going out in the Dealer's Room. I'm sure it will be non-stop fun, I can't wait!

Sure, go ahead and have Binia show you how to play, I'm sure she'll do a great job, and I'll bet you'll be instantly hooked. It's not like D&D-light, it's an entirely different experience - part math and strategy, and part great "flavor" via the card names, artwork, and quotes. I'd recommend going on the www.magicthegathering.com website before you go and playing the computer tutorial game a bit to get familiar with the game. It does a great job of gradually introducing concepts.

Mike

Make that a 'was' John - but it took several sessions in rehab to get to this point. =D

Honestly, it's a very expensive game if you want to be competitive, although there are countless combinations and permutations of cards that make it fascinating. You'll always be thinking "if only I had a couple of xxxx cards, my deck would be killer!" Yikes!

And Forsaken? *I* thought it was funny - those were not crickets chirping, it was me snickering.
