TOPIC: 25-Rares-to-Trade

Well, I've got my plastic bag ready with the 25 Rare tokens to trade for a UR.<br /><br />I don't know if anyone wants to know this info, but I figured I'd post it in case anyone wants to shout, "Raven, you're insane! Don't trade out that token - I want it!!" I'd extend the offer to others, but don't really feel like wasting the postage for 1:1 trades.<br /><br />Anyone else who wants to swap out any of these 1:1 for their own reds, I'm willing to consider it if you can track me down in person before 5pm Thursday August, when I hope to drop these off at the Token Exchange. No guarantees, though.<br />

Good idea, Raven.<br /><br />1)  I'd ask Jeff and/or Dave if partially used tokens are viable for this trade.<br />2)  I'd consider trading for the Quarterstaff +1 and a Longbow +1.<br /><br />I'll have to see what I can find.  Ruby Ring or two?    Then again, you wouldn't want to burn those!

Has any thought been given to this?<br /><br />I figured that "single charge" items (consumables like scrolls) are valid, so a wand with 1 charge left should be okay. <br />I mean, otherwise, I could swap it out with a Scroll of Chain Lightning for the same effect.<br /><br /><br />

I built two such lists and sent them to Jeff for his "FYI..."<br /><br />I'll try to post what I think I can do...but it was surprising how easy 25 REDS really is.

<br /><br />I'd love to know what items were on your 25-to-trade list.<br /><br />You know, coming up with the 25 tokens wasn't too tough, but I kept thinking "I could trade this stuff easily in the tavern", or "Hey, half of this stack should convince a newbie to trade a UR they just found". IIRC, most of the trades made for URs in the tavern were for stacks of 10 - 15 reds, right? Okay, it was good stuff, not just 50GP tokens, but still, for 25 reds, you should be able to trade for a pretty decent UR, not just a random one. And if you add up the value of the tokens, they come up to a lot more than the average value of the UR's, as listed in the Price Guide.<br /><br />Based on that, I think the 25 rares:1 UR is a pretty decent trade-in value. And I don't think there will be as many people trying to make the trade as some people expect there to be.<br /><br />I still am curious to know how many URs will be available, and how they'll handle it if there's more players who want to trade, than there are URs available. It makes a big difference to whether I try to put together a 2nd bag of 25-to-trade. I don't want to trade away good stuff for random low-value reds and then discover I'm only allowed to make 1 trade for a UR.<br /><br /> - Raven

Personally - depending on the UR 10 is more than fair.  The 25 price tag TD is offering is nice cuz we old timers can burn 50GP reds...and the ooodles of doubles we get.<br /><br />Where did that list go...

Things are still in flux with regard to the Token Exchange.  I am having some "discussions" with the factory about the Common problem, so that all has to be sorted out before I can proceed with obtaining more Rares and URs for the Token Exchange.  I am some now, but it is a woeful supply based on the input I received here.<br /><br />I will post more info when I get my plans more solidified.  We will do some kind of Token Exchange, but at this point assume it is going to be pretty small and that chances of getting an UR are slim.

Maybe just pull the plug on this and come up with some sort of new idea?<br /><br />Like maybe a raffle with buy-in in REDS?

<br /><br />Jeff,<br /><br />I'm glad to hear the supply of UR's will be limited in the exchange, as I think the value and collectibility of the UR's will drop significantly if the market is flooded from UR's in the exchange.  <br /><br />There is already an auction planned for TD Props - if the UR supply is limited, why not move them from the exchange to the auction.  But - instead of having people bid on them with gold, they would bid on them with Rares.  That would let the UR's be traded for the market value in Rares instead of 25 (which is clearly too low) or some set amount.  It would accomplish your goal of being a token sink still.  And, it would be more fair, by letting the UR's go to the highest bidder instead of just who was lucky enough to get in the front of the line.  <br /><br />Another advantage would be to let people bid on the ones they want the most instead of getting one at random - probably resulting in a higher amount of reds being bid (which is a better token sink).  <br /><br />Uncommons & commons could also be allowed as part of people's bids if you want - at whatever exchange rate you set (currently you have it at 10 uncommons per Rare and 250 commons per rare).  So, if they bid 25 Reds, 250 uncommons, and 1000 commons their bid would really be 25 reds plus 25 reds plus 4 reds = 54 reds.  <br /><br />What do you think?<br /><br />Mike

<br /><br />On that point Mike, believe I disagree with you. (But in a friendly way )<br /><br />I'm not worried at all about the market being flood with URs from this trade.  Even if Jeff could provide a trade for every person who wanted to do the 25 to 1 trade (I would guess a max around 90 to 150 trades) their still would be a ton of demand for the URs. I'm worried that as things currently stand URs are becoming too valuable and scarce, and that scarcity could lead to bad real world behaviors (Theft, corruption, etc...)<br /><br />I would argue that given the current market require trading an UR to get an UR or that you pay multiple hundreds of dollars (none of which TD sees) that URs are too rare, and should be knocked down a peg. Though I doubt adding (worst case) 150 URs to the market would change the market demand that much.
