Perhaps it is trusting competitors flights which causes such inconsistency in deliveries??

It has to be something out of their control because as I said - in my experience Priority can be 2-5 days. (It could be worse, and the late deliveries could be because very remote postal locations are involved...but hey 5 days can also be attributed to stuff that just got missed on the truck...had that happen once.) My mail carrier tells me way too much about what goes on...lots of circumstances involved...

Problem I have is IF a person pays for an upgraded service it should be somewhat standardized to the point of much more consistency. But that is just my opinion - I'm a demanding consumer, especially when it comes to a Federal service organization.

I'm usually pretty lenient on shipping times, for instance I don't really care if my Bowen Mini-Busts arrive within 2 days or 6 days. But, for something time-sensitive like this Token Shipment I'll be pretty disappointed if I don't have them in time to sort through them over the long weekend. Although I shouldn't expect too much from my post office, as I remember last year I was still waiting for my tokens days after everyone else had opened theirs.

If by some miracle they arrive today I'll get to go thru them on the plane to MA tmr, but I am expecting them to be waiting for me when I get back on Monday, and I've already asked our cat-watching neighbor to put the package in our condo when it arrives, so don't try to drive by looking for it! =D

Brian
Thanks for the feedback. You are correct delivery needs to be more consistent. There are thousands of hard working employees who do care and want the customer to receive things in a timely manner. Sometimes things are out of our control, but even 1 late package to a person seems like 100% failure. I really feel bad at those times when someone asks where something is or what may be delaying a packege: and I have to tell them what may have happened.

You should expect more from the USPS and we are striving to make things better.

Thanks for the input. Can't wait to see you again at GenCon.

God bless,

larry

I wasn't trying to come off bitter about USPS service...just stating facts that consistency is an issue for me. I have recently done several eBay auctions and noticed quite a bit of disparity - I am trying to chalk it up to rural locations, but that is not really the case most of the time. (Bro - still no sign of your letter...it has been how long now??)

I can totally see the possible reason now - if indeed the USPS uses competitor flights!!! I work in the telecom industry, and you know - when Carrier X needs Carrier Y to complete a circuit for them so that Carrier X can reach new customers...well Carrier Y tends to make Carrier X look slow and full of problems...

Darn shame, but it is a jungle out there...

Well you could go with UPS which has over 99% consistency and guarenteed delivery dates on every package. Although it is slightly more expensive depending on how far and how heavy the package is.

Shipping from IL means that you will get the cheapest rates since you are in the middle of the US and only the most remote areas of CA are 5 day deliveries. Most areas are guarenteed in 1-3 days.

I prefer using USPS priority over UPS any day!
Flat rate boxes are a fantastic way for me to ship orders out personally!
Usually local customers get their order next day, which has surprised a couple people.
I personally don't mind an extra dollar or two get something there in 2-3 days vs. 5 days UPS ground.
UPS I've had packages get damaged, get sent the wrong direction and have to backtrack causing its delivery date to be pushed back a couple days.

In my personal experiences USPS Priority I take any day over UPS.

Well if it goes in the wrong direction and misses the guarenteed delivery date then you get refunded. If a UPS package is late one day it is still there before the same package shipped USPS and you get it for free.

UPS never gave me a refund.
I've never been quite happy with the items I've shipped or received shipped through them I prefer to stick with USPS.
