Sneak Attack != Assassinate

Though, the movement seems towards making them more alike.

For instance, can Assassinate any monster, doesn't matter if it's crit immune or Sneak Attack immune.

• Lenses of Agility
• Lenses of Vital Insight
• Nightshade's +2 Throwing Dagger

I read the TDb regarding and I believe the following are contradicting statements or I am confused.

Assassin (Sub-Class) Note: The 🗡 counts as a “6” when making a Melee assassination attack. Nightshade’s +2 Throwing Dagger by itself does not allow the wielder to make a Ranged assassination attempt. For that you’d also need a token that specifically allows you to circumvent that rule. (e.g., Lenses of Vital Insight)

Q4) Do I need to equip some other token to make a Ranged sneak attack using Nightshade’s +2 Throwing Dagger?
A4) No.

I'm not sure I see the contradiction. It says that Nightshade's can do a ranged sneak attack by itself, but not a ranged assassination attack.

For completeness in case this comes up in a future search. Next year's (2025) common Sea Raider Mace has two 6s on it. It is not a range weapon so limited to melee attacks.

Edit: also maybe the common Lightening Bee Nest which is also a common in 2025. It is a consumable with only 4 numbers 1 of which is a 6. I assume it is a range weapon so I think it works with the Lenses of Vital Insight. It is a consumable so you would want to stock up on a few.

Edit Edit: 2025 rare +1 Large Throwing Axe has 2 6s on it as well. It can be used both in melee and thrown.

For most comical range weapon the answer is clearly the Blunder Pipe. It has 4 damage options on the wheel one is a 6 and one that does 2 pts of damage to the wielder. The odds of something memorable happening when you slide a 20 are high.
