I was thinking, what if True Dungeon offered personalized Legendary Tokens? Like maybe the Class Legendary Tokens, but you'd substitute your name (actual or forum) in the token. For instance, if I were to do it (which I wouldn't) it could be Mike Steele's Shaper Necklace.

The transmute cost would be insanely high, like multiples higher than a regular Legendary token. Maybe the starting point would be the regular Legendary token, and then a TON of stuff in addition to that.

It seems like it wouldn't be more expensive to print out a sheet of those than it is something like the individually numbered Eldritch Tokens, and it might be a nice bonus option for the REALLY big token buyers. It wouldn't affect game balance at all, since they are functionally identical to the originals (and they couldn't ever be allowed to stack with the originals).

Maybe they would just be listed in an note under the regular Legendary listing in TokenDB.Com so they didn't add confusion to the Legendary listing.

It sounded like we won't be seeing individualized numbered tokens in the future because of the RFID (based on what Jeff said about the Dragon Orbs). Granted I could be wrong in making that assumption but it did seem that way to me.

I also do think there is a different between a series of definable number sequence and a string of unknown letters. Work alone by the TD team to mock up the Name on the token would require more work on their part (making sure it fit and so forth). Printing cost are going to be higher. Jeff taking extra transmute tokens will not offset that cost.

As cools as it might be, don't hold your breath on this this one. If it were to happen I expect you would need to pay actually money for the token.
You either discover a star or you don't. You arrogant punk.

A cool idea indeed....

However I just wonder about the lead time required. Not sure if Jeff has the ability to order small batches or not. But If he just sent off the sheets in order to get the major annual order to be delivered next January. It could require someone to place and order and not expect to see the result for 6-9 months...admittedly worth the wait but still.

The common criticism of these bespoke tokens is that they would have to go to the printer in China. I don't think that's the case.

TD could order a bunch of 'blank' orange tokens (with or without rfid). Then when a custom order comes in, print the sticker at their HQ.

That's it.

So you could imagine a process where:

1. I own a Widseth’s Legendary Lute.
2. I want a custom Legendary Lute called Leitz's Legendary Lute.
3. I give TD my existing Widseth’s Legendary Lute and $$$
4. They give me back Leitz's Legendary Lute

It could literally be the same token with the names swapped, or it could be different artwork too.

Token effects would be the same.

I think that's what Mike is talking about here.

deserves some consideration, but would have to include cash. i believe the one offs tend to be more pricey to make.

I'm sure there are many good arguments for and against this. But it would represent a likely lucrative new revenue stream for our favorite company.

The cost would be insane and likely kill it.

But would be cool to see a return of the "Bonded" tokens.

If you look at the tokens really close up, you'll see they use a CMYK printing method. The stickers are also bonded with a non-consumer grade adhesive from what I can tell. I don't think TD has the equipment in house to do this. They'd need to contract it out to a company or purchase the equipment.

Does it have to be a legendary token?

I mean, maybe this idea started because Mike wants a Mike's Steele Mirror.
this is not a signature.

That is what I was thinking about, although I was thinking step 3 would be tokens (trade, reserve, UR, Relic, etc), but it could certainly be tokens, cash, or a combination of the two.

This feels like a distraction for TD at best, and a likely source of additional mental overhead for coaches and DMs.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have custom tokens. I just think TD has enough other things to focus energy on. Like updated class cards ;)

Hey Mike Steele -- Congrats on 10th level! I just noticed that shinny golden level indicator under your name. Well done sir!
