TOPIC: 2022 Tokens Question

2022 Tokens Question 2 years 11 months ago #1

I know that Jeff is going to have to order the 2022 stuff early, but will that mean pre-orders will be earlier as well? Should we still expect tokens early next year as well? I don't think there was any type of statement during the development process, but it is always possible I missed it.

I agree...any help scheduling out purchases for the year would be appreciated.

I think the reason for Jeff ordering earlier was stated as other companies were ordering earlier, meaning td had to order earlier to book manufacturing at the same time as usual.

I would expect tokens to be ordered as usual (pre order in Nov) with delivery as usual, or possibly delayed again.

Jeff's initial note indicated the factory had told him they needed art by early May to guarantee delivery by April of 2022. So I don't think this means we'll be getting those tokens eary.

Trans-Pacific ocean shipping is a complete mess right now, on any given day there are 20 container ships docked outside the west coast ports waiting to unload, and US based retailers seem to be refilling their inventory levels putting a lot of demand on shipping.

Plus someone got drunk and parked a ship in the Suez Canal I heard? Shipping, not as easy as Virtual True Dungeon.

I know there are those oddball shipments, but the Suez Canal is a route between Asia and Europe. Nearly all Asia to America shipments take the direct route across the Pacific. That being said, the company I work for did have one shipment delayed by the Suez incident.

Sorry, trying to keep things light at this serious time. The Suez Canal thing is like month old news now, shouldn't affect anything by the end of the year unless they let the guy that piloted it into the Canal back through the Canal around the time of the shipment.

It wouldn't be surprising to see logistics challenges crop up again for many industries.

Essentially, anything being manufactured that has inexpensive labor tied to it is facing delays right now. Industries like lumber already had staffing shortages prior to Covid - now, it's nearly impossible for them to get (and keep) the labor they need. A handful of people get sick and it stops entire operations now. The fact that China seems to have brought things under control is a blessing for everyone. If they spiked again like India is, everything from electronics to rare earth metals to token manufacturing would be stuck. Jeff ordering really early is a great idea - worst case, TD has a warehouse full of next year's tokens early. My guess it they'll arrive around the end of the year.

In some ways, the world showed how resilient it is - in others, it showed big weak spots.
