Matthew Hayward wrote: Finally - with regard to simulation data - we’ve had nothing but simulation data for years and discussions about class damage do not seem to reach any sort of consensus. I hope true dungeon (ba-dum-bum-tiss) data will help inform those discussions in a way that simulation data can’t.

Simulation data with VTD is a bit different though. Because you can literally put in the code into the app and website and roll different results. Granted it is simulated data since you don't have the monster hitting back, but it is different than the theoritical numbers that some have produced for years based on averages and/or projected slides. There are very few folks that could do simulation slides. It is simulation data but not the same as the simulation data for physical that I would argue is more theoretical.

Awesome - thank you!

Probably best for grand total - there isn’t space in the sheet for distinct hits.

Do you want us to distinguish between "zero damage because character missed" and "zero damage because character took that round to buff the party instead of attacking directly", and if so how? Perhaps we could enter a "B" instead of a number so that cell doesn't get counted in the average-damage-per-round statistics but does get included in a separate calculation of how often different character types act in support rather than direct damage roles?

It would be very interesting to see, for example, what % of time clerics tend to buff/heal mid-combat vs attack directly.

I wonder if anyone is going to double up data because they don't know that someone else is doing it. It would be fairly simple to spot as all the numbers would be the same for 2 parties, but something to potentially look for.

Good question - if you put a letter b in the cell well know a buff / support action was taken as opposed to a swing and a miss.

Then we can interpret blanks as no data, 0 as tried and failed, b as took a buff / support action.

I was thinking of putting in what the class did, would you prefer just a b?

Cleric - Healed
Bard - Lore
Rogue - Sneak
vs
Cleric - b
Bard - b
Rogue - b

What do you want for "Literally my attack did 0" ? Which is very possible at epic. Also do you want "cluck" damage?

My rogue was doing zero and one damage with the damage reduction at epic, and my only damage was my "cluck" damage from the potion I drank earlier in the run.

Man that run was a blast.

I think just put 0 in that case.

What is cluck damage?

There was a potion you could drink early in the dungeon that had random effects. One effect let you add 2 to your damage total as long as your attack was accompanied by chicken behavior :-)

As of 4b, it still was, I had a party member get it and another talk about getting it on an earlier run.
