Yeah, that's not great. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on the XP codes for the two runs I did back when "I'll never play this game enough that it'll matter if I put in XP", but this is way beyond that. Ten events, figuring 2000XP per run, means that someone could jump from 0 to level 6, almost level 7, for $100. I use level as shorthand for how long someone has been around/invested in the game, and a quick way to figure out how dependable I can trust someone to be for trades. Doesn't mean that lower level people are untrustworthy, I'm lower in level and consider myself very trustworthy. But if I don't know someone and have never interacted with them level 6 or 7 means that they've invested enough time, resources, and energy into the game that community censure for being untrustworthy or a jerk is a big incentive to play nice.

Here is a big ol' discussion on someone selling one from about 4 years ago.

I think everyone pretty much agreed it was in bad form. However, TD never chimed in to say that was not allowed. Ultimately no one bid on it, and I doubt anyone will bid on this one either. Ultimately I don't care. XP and lots of TD is the honor system. If anyone feels they will get more enjoyment in breaking that honor system it is not hurting my gameplay as far as getting XP they did not earn. Someone not taking damage or reporting more damage they they should be in VTD on a run I am on would make me feel cheated on the run. An entire run that I am not on doing it, I couldn't care. I know there are those that do whether it be XP or another element of our honor system tied to the game.

On the eBay subject, I hope whoever won the auction for the erasure from a V2b run is here, and posts what they pulled. The wrapped 20 pack of treasure had a brown one, so that could have been anything from a Darkwood Plank or Mystic Silk to a Wish Ring or 25K Bar.

I had bid but lost to a snipe. I felt I had overbid anyway at double the price of 2 virtual runs so couldn’t justify going higher.

Same seller with the XP codes also has a lot including survivor buttons and a 7th level badge holder.

This is super sketchy, hope its shut down. If anyone someone who is missing XP should contact the power that be to resolve the issue rather then paying money to a scalper to, what chase player loyalty perks?

I don't really like the idea of reselling XP Codes (or the badge holder), but I can understand why someone would sell them. I would hope that if the seller is a member of this community they would voluntarily pull the items.

A couple of things:
1. Perhaps XP codes should expire - after 2 years or so. If someone needs to add experience after than in a special circumstance they could email TD - I doubt it would be very frequent.
2. It would be nice if we eliminated XP Codes for events ticketed through TDEvents. It would require some work on the system, but if tickets are assigned through TDEvents, perhaps it could also handle correct XP. (I understand that some events are not ticketed through TDEvents, but at least it would help for those events.)

#2 wouldn't really work in my situation. I'm handling a full run of 10 for my group, so TDEvents doesn't have anyone else's info from my group, I send everyone their XP codes.

I thought it seemed wrong to sell XP codes 4 years ago, and it still seems wrong to me.

All tickets are not sold through td.events though. Gen Con is likely never to release their hold on tickets and I think GHC does does tickets for TD if memory serves me correct. I do like the expire idea if people are really concerned about.

I threw away a bunch of V-series xp codes (most of my group doesn't care about them) just today. I would hope if anyone is missing a code legitimately they would do what I have seen multiple times in the past. Post a forum post and someone will give you a code for free. I am sure most of us have more than we need. If someone is missing one from the V-series I can help until I take the garbage out...lol.

I bought a token lot ages ago, that came with a few Medallion of Nobility tokens. I asked Jeff if he wanted them, but he told just to hang onto to them. And I have.

Well, I did give one to Trent for something he has planned, but it isn’t for his use. I figured him to be an honest barbarian.

Hehe, yeah. I have mine of course, and that one I plan to display for a future idea. :)

I think it would be ok to expire XP codes after 2 years.

I'm really curious about that trade token, too.
