TOPIC: Advice on How to Sell Tokens

Hi!
I was doing some deep cleaning and found a bunch of my True Dungeon tokens that I no longer have a need for. They are from 2019 and I have 144 in total: 14 rare, 28 uncommon, and 102 common. I took the time to make a list of all of them and I am interested in selling them all. I'm thinking about trying to just do a bulk sale of all 144 because I just want to get rid of them quickly but there are a lot of repeats so I am not sure how well that will turn out. I also don't know if I have any high value tokens I should try to sell separately. I remember the Slayer Tentacle being worth a decent amount when I first got it even though it was a common, I am not sure if this is still the case. I'm not really interested in making a ton of money I just have them sitting around and don't need them so I would rather get them to someone who is interested. I saw there is a forum on here for auctions but I was wondering how that worked. Do I just list all the tokens I have and have a set end date for it them contact the person with the highest bid? Any insight to this is greatly appreciated as I've never done this before.

Hello Heather - welcome to the forums!

Monster bits (like Slayer Tentacle) are worth $5 at least, and the 2019's were in very high demand due to people looking for complete sets last year - maybe selling for up to $15. I'm not sure what prices have done on those more recently.

Other than possibly that one, I didn't see any single token in your collection worth more than $5-10.

I think your best best with this would be to sell it all as one lot, either here in the forums by taking offers, or on eBay.

I would estimate the total value of things here is in the range of $25-60 so breaking it up into multiple transactions may mean your shipping and hassle are not worth the extra effort.

So if I were to put a topic up saying I was having an auction ending July 1st do you think that would be enough time? I am trying to get them off my hands quickly as I have to go back to school in the fall and don't want them just sitting around.

July 1st is enough time - nearly 2 weeks from now.

People tend to run two auction styles here:

1. "eBay style" - in this style the winning bid is like $1 more than the 2nd highest bid (or the winning bid itself if that would be more).

Example:

Alex bids $3
Matt bids $5
Heather bids $11

Current high bidder is Heather at $6 ($1 higher than the 2nd highest bid).

2. Other people run auctions where the winning bid is just the maximum amount bid:

Alex bids $3
Matt bids $5
Heather bids $11

Current high bidder is Heather at $11 (the highest bid).

Type #2 tends to have a rush of bids at the very end to avoid getting "sniped" by another bidder.

In either case, auction runners tend to accept bids via private messages, and keep the identity of the bidders secret.

I agree that a forum auction would be a good way to go. You'd want to be sure to specify what shipping the winner will be paying. You might also list a starting bid at the lowest amount you'd accept. I think there are enough interesting tokens there that you should get some bids on it.

If you're thinking of playing again, maybe you would want to save a few to use in your build?
