TOPIC: Coin Album for tokens?

Coin Album for tokens? 4 years 8 months ago #1

Has anyone tried one of these for their tokens?

www.whitman.com/store/Inventory/Browse/Coin-Storage/category/Coin-Wallets?showLandingPage=False

I saw it mentioned in a post a while back but I cannot find it. I basically wanted to use it to stash tokens for easy access that the DM may ask to see. Additionally, I was curious how many tokens they can actually hold as they’re made for coins which are thinner. I find it hard to believe if I ordered the 80 token album that I could fit 80 tokens in there and actually be able to close the album.

The 24 coin wallets work well. They hold 8 pages of tokens, which is a stretch but it does fit. The outer cover having no support in it, and just conforming to the shape of the tokens actually helps here. These also have the opening for token pockets pointed towards the binding of the "book" so that tokens don't wall out.

The 60 coin wallet does not work very well. They hold 10 pages of tokens, and then 2 covers with backing supports. Grab a stack of 10 tokens, thats how much volume you would be trying to cram into the wallet. Also, the wallet I have has the opening for the pockets pointed up towards the top of the book, and tokens fall out very easily. (I tape the pockets closed.)

Here's a picture. On the left is the 60 coin wallet, on the right a couple of 24 coin wallets.

If you're looking for a long term investment I would go with the dansco books. Sorry I dont have a link to them for sizing.

The coin trays from lighthouse sized for american eagles work. I find using those and having a nicer case than they sell is a good combination (I use Pelican cases with foam with lighthouse coin trays inside).

I have a bunch of the coin wallets. I use them for consumables. They work great. I can bring some extras I have with me to gencon if want any or just to look at them.

This is my set-up for primary tokens. I have a separate case I bring for consumables but only bring what you see in the tubes for runs.

I was thinking of picking up a coin wallet or some such to help get to GC, and there is a coin collecting store near me, but I can't drive, so I am OOL. Might order something beforehand.

I have been testing the 60 pocket book for a few months now and find it works quite well IF supplemented with 3/8 Velcro dots to keep the tokens from falling out.
