TOPIC: Orion's Belt

Awesome token, side quest and also a tough choice for Viperstrikers if you rock the kilt (and are not a Ranger with two Fangs). Giving up +3 Dex is difficult and the Backstab bonus.

That said, I'm still making at least 2 of these. I have one Fragment set in hand now and 90% of the components needed to make this. I like how this has a short transmute lifespan and can see this becoming a must have down the road.

I really like this token. Just by it's introduction into the game it will be quite limited with the treasure hunt that has occured so Tokenaholics will love it just for it's uniqueness. With the extra pressure to make beads this year and there being 6 in a set I feel this token can find value. I agree with Jedi that this token could mature over time as the enviroment changes and new tokens are introduced. Yes if you are BIS or slightly so with a relic + 5STR belt this is still really cool and can add some extra flavor with all the combinations.

To me the belt reads the following without counting towards your slot cap

KA-POW combo
Charm of Quick Strike + 3 STR

or

FEMA Combo
Wear another Back slot (legendary +6 saves anyone) + -10 darkrift & +2 saves + 2 saves


or

Greedy Combo 18-20 treasure
CoA + ISSG + ISSN


I wanted to create a Bring your buddy combo with ACoS but you get the idea....




I missed out on the original expanders orbits and charm bracelets ect.. so this is cool to have in my secondary builds or have my wifes wizard rocking it!

Will I make one? Yes. Even if just as a memento of the riddle hunt.

Is it Relic-worthy? In my opinion, it feels a bit weak.

Usually (though there are exceptions), when we go from UR to a Relic, we gain at least a UR worth of benefit. In this case though, we're only gaining half a UR of benefit. And at the same time we're also moving to a stronger slot (maybe debatable compared to wrist, fairly sure compared to earcuff). Yes, I know this doesn't transmute directly from the Arcane Earcuff and Arcane Bracelets, but it is hard not to draw the comparison since they'll be in print at the same time.

Am I wrong to feel a little concerned at the token requirement to get this and the bead made? 18 tokens (12 of which have to be unique) from treasure pulls that have been stated as having lower percentages this year feels a bit rough.

Oddly that's not my concern with it,

it's the x2 bismuth and oil plus aragonite and oh yeah 5k in gold that together makes me hold off. I don't mind the bits per say. Would've been nice to see a way to use up some completion tokens instead of bits but i can get why not.

Just seems steep in resources for what we get.

Do we know if this is transmutable at Indy on Day 1 or is this another post Gen Con only transmute?

Well you could make this recipe and the bead only using recipe fragments. So really it is only 6 unique. Granted I doubt anyone is going to use 18 fragments (6 of which must be unique) to make the bead and the belt but it could be done since you can substitute the fragments for monster trophies.

Orion's Belt has been updated to say you cannot use fragments.

It's cool but it lost a lot of Mojo in a year with way too many slot expanders. For all the talk of Power Creep the Ranger Legendary & the Slot expansion seemed to fly under the radar pretty unscathed. This years development and some big choices were a bit perplexing.

This is going to be the biggest holdup for me. After making awakened synergy for my group, rogue necklace, and kilts I am down to my last bismuth and tapped on oil. Im should be ok to make one so long as its transmutable at GHC but no way Im going to be able to swing more then 1 surprise relic. Still good problem to have.

I agree with others that Orion's wont be replacing my frost giant belt (or likely the arcane belt next year) but I think you would be crazy to assume it wont over take them eventually.
