TOPIC: FOP: Scarab clarification please

FOP: Scarab clarification please 4 years 9 months ago #13

I think the key is the GM/DM needs to understand how these individual save tokens impact group party rolls.

Based upon my understanding the FOP: Scarab only influences your single save roll.

I think TPTB need to make a rule on these Figures of Power, and then make sure combat DMs know how they are supposed to do things.

Tokens that may be affected by this:
Widseth's Legendary Lute
Figurine of Power: Cat
Questor’s Charm of Luck
Mithral Coin of Luck
Figurine of Power: Scarab
Anti-toxin (UC)
Belladonna
Charm of Wealful Wind
Figurine of Power: Snail
Periapt of Proof Against Poison
Potion Wolfsbane Extract

I basically just search for "re-roll", there are probably others that could be affected.

Are we seriously at the point we need a ruling on whether me drinking Anti-toxin let’s someone else reroll their save?

Are you saying I can drink a potion and heal or cure someone else?

Then we need to errata every token.

Defender Helm grants +1 saves. Where does it say I can’t give that bonus to a Wizard?

As I said a couple pages back, every token affects only the person who’s wearing it, unless it specifically says otherwise. That’s how we’ve always treated every piece of equipment ever, so I just don’t understand why after 17 years we’re suddenly confused about that.

Brad
Widseth’s Legendary Lute says 1/game may reroll failed save of 1-3, yet the token db specifics say how it can reroll a party save. Not saying this is the case for any other token just that not every token only affects the person equipping it. Potions Death door though not equipped does take a different person to use it than the one that gets the effect. So if I take my action to pour anti-toxin (also not equipped) into your mouth could I not ‘use’ anti-toxin to have you reroll? I would say no because of what is in the token db, but just having the token I wouldn’t be so sure because of how Death’s Door works. Could I though use an action to use a healing potion on you? I am not so sure on this one.

Consumables are easily shared, so Anti-toxin is probably a bad example. Hand me the potion and I’ll drink it myself.

PODD literally says, “Restores a dead character to life.” It specifically says you can use it on another player.

Widseth is confusing. TokenDB does indeed imply it grants a party reroll. I wonder how that would work if everyone rolled their own. Regardless, the TokenDB entry complies with the caveat (“unless it says otherwise.”)

The first part of Widseth’s looks like it might be an exception, but it isn’t. It doesn’t give the party +2/+2, it affects the Bard’s bardsong to grant the party an additional +2/+2. </HairSplitting>

Not saying my rule is official. Just saying that, based on my experience, it seems to sum things up as I understand them. I’m sure someone will eventually be my own personal #DreamCrusher if I’m wrong.

The DM should add +3 to the wearer's bonus as recorded on the party card, not for the entire group.

Have you looked it up in the TDb ?
Please post TDb corrections in this thread .

Thanks for the clarification, Druegar. I've been using the Scarab for years and I feel like the DMs have been adding the +3 to the entire party.

I've been using it because there really isn't a good UR or better figurine for Fighters (with the exception of the Cat which is long out of print). Can we do something about that in 2021?
