Compound interest and opportunity cost would definitely agree with you.

Well if we start with 100 initial investment, save 8.50 per month in a savings account, and 1% interest... We get about 730 at the end of 6 years. Considering the rod parts also conferred slotless benefits over that time, I'm not sure we have much opportunity cost.

IMO the ship on the Rod has already sailed. You want a Rod, buy one on the secondary market. I'm looking for a new Grand Eldritch transmute path after the Teeth, or maybe an entirely new type of multi-year path. That would be even better. Stop the Eldritch stuff after the Teeth and start something new.

I'd be ok with a rod reprint as it would probably be over a decade from the first receipe closing before anyone made a new one. Heck, we could even release the segments in reverse order to further slow things down.

I know it would impact the price of the existing rods that are out there but I still cant see them falling below 2k and I'm ok with that too. Plus it arrests power creep, buys us 7 more years to think, and there are way more players around now then there were then. Plus I also maintain there is no way to predict sales impact since while a reprint may be bad for old collectors it would be good for new ones.

Full disclosure, I dont have a rod, just segments, but I dont think that's coloring my oppinian since I also dont find the rod all that interesting to complete.

Great - now we've established those things are not the same, I have a question:

It seems, although I might be mistaken, that your aim here is to make RoSP available at a lower price than it is currently available on the secondary market.

Is that correct?

If so, what value would you be targeting for a new RoSP?

and if a 1% savings account is your investment strategy, please know that I will guarantee you 1.5% on your money, and invest it elsewhere, keeping the residual profits for myself. Much like the banks offering that rate do.

I'm actually in favor of continuing to make Eldritch tokens. Possibly including reprinting the Rod or Supreme Ring cycles, but I think new tokens are probably better. The Eldritch set bonuses are pretty significant, and continuing to make new Eldritch tokens would give newer players more access to them.

I wouldn't mind reprinting the Eldritch items given that it's such a long cycle, especially on the grand level. I mostly wonder how that will affect the 1k token sales. I imagine 8k+ buyers will continue to spend whatever they do, but how many 1k buyers are specifically doing so for the green back?

I would hate any eldritch reprint. I’d rather have the item remain unique.

As to the making the teeth more useable, let’s compare to the rod.

The rod gives a standing +1 to str/dex/con/hp/all saves. And then the 1 time a year unique card.

I think the teeth 1 use per dungeon is rough, expecially considering how many dungeons are designed to not allow the ability to overcome the obstacle... which is problematic.

So I think it just inately giving psionic potential ends the token tax for its usage, and as a grand eldritch it should remain slotless once complete. For its unique ability, maybe 1/year allow you to equip a new card call the psionist. Obviously this still has time for development, but it could also be as easy as an ability overlay to still give character flavor but make it easier than 12 unique cards.

As to making each tooth useful or upping sales... I think it’s largely due to the way the item was implemented. I largely think it’s too late to change that at this juncture, but something to strongly think about in the next cycle.
