I love the passion. I really do. We(me included) forget that unless we post in the Lords and Ladies(side note, can we change it to ladies and lords section), new players can see our passion(good and bad)

so that could frighten and turn away some new players when they see turmoil and pissed off comments (justified or not).

So please be mindful of all this. I am just as guilty too. but every now and then we need to be reminded of this.

i will leave you with a video of coach herm edwards. sorry it is crappy quality

Truth - thanks for saying this! I know I need to remember this too!
PROUD MEMBER OF THE DDA! :)
They say that the best weapon is the one you never have to use. I respectfully disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to use once! Oh - and if you really need to think about whether you're going to use the fireball or the + umpty staff of butt-whooping - you're likely to find yourself full of arrows, or fangs, or nasty knives & swords and such. Don't think - just shoot!

Good advice. Even in Lords and Ladies, it is wise to think before posting.

Lords and Ladies has expanded a fair amount in recent years with the the expansion of XP opportunities. Its not quite the small gathering place it once was.

And the thread title brought this gem to mind.

D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

People tend to respond to things in the thread they’re posted. If the recipes had hit L&L first, that’s where all the comments would have been.

I actually purposely walked away from the forums last night because I was down right pissed. This was after the second set of recipes were released. No longer pissed, but not a happy camper. If anyone wants to know PM or find me at GHC.

I love Jeff, and we know he’s had a lot on his plate, but posting these... let’s say “controversial” recipes outside of L&L first was a mistake. After all the acrimony over the tokens, the blowback was to be expected. I didn’t say “right,” but it shouldn’t have been a surprise.

So okay, I’ll try to keep my temper when the kids are around. But there’s plenty of blame to go around for this situation, Chad. Just my opinion.

I was saying this to everyone, not anyone in particular. I posted this so hopefully everyone would remember and take a breath before posting

I did almost close my browser and walk away after the first post. But i also know that if you follow the 'wait a day' rule during token design, your opinion might be too late to make a difference.

Its a tough balance for sure, at least once during design this year I went for a walk to give myself an hour to make sure I actually felt what I felt and wasn't just reacting reflexively. Even so though, if were all having these reactions there are probably a lot more people who are feeling the same thing and just not saying it out loud. Or who just don't follow design and will create customer service issues later.Honestly I don't envy Jeff having to deal with it all.

Agreed.
Honestly, I was surprised to see the recipes posted so soon after the token designs. I recall there usually being a week or so in between, during which tempers can cool a bit.

I also think they're usually posted first in the L&L forum, to get some of the initial "these need to be re-worked, and this is why" out of the way.

You know.... I was thinking recently that it might be time to change the name of that forum.

Not to something which reinforces out of date cultural baggage tho ("Ladies first"?) but to something more inclusive and non-binary.

And perhaps something which is less likely to reinforce the "elitist" aura with which some of the newer players view the vets. (Or as we view ourselves..??)

I'm rolling around names in my head like "Dedicated Fans" Forum, or "Level Up!" or "Long Term Players" or (if Jeff wants to run with the Nobility theme because of the Badge of Nobility) simply the "Nobility of GreyHawk" forum.

Are we even officially affiliated with that world anymore?
