TOPIC: Bags vs. Draws

Bags vs. Draws 5 years 8 months ago #1

I am sure that people fall solidly on one side or another. I thought it would be an interesting place for people to share their preferences and why. What sort of successes have you had with each. Also feel free to post what sort of luck you are having this year.

For me I have had decent luck in the past with the 50 bags a bit more than the draws.
So far this year i grabbed 1 Fifty bag and not impressed. I got:
13 monster bits (good)
13 Greaves- this was very disappointing to me
1 GP token (100g)
Variety of other tokens destined to be mulched
3 Trade tokens- DP, EB, MH

No URs or any blue backs or anything. I may try one other 50 bag tomorrow but not sure why they are so packed with greaves. That can't be random.

What sort of luck have others had?

I've gotten three 50 bags. One UR, one trade item, one charm in the first bag and nothing in the other 2

I have said it before and will say it again. The bags cpme from the same treasure mix as the boxes. I will have more info on my bags post gen con. 3 so far should 2 to 4 today.

I have made 43 pulls thus far and only had one trade good and one charm of transmorph. There were a ton of monster tokens and rares that will be transmuted, but I think they may have just thinned out the good stuff this year.

It definitely feels like UR or higher is much thinner this year and they put more greaves and charms of transmorph in there. At this point the greaves don't feel any better than a normal rare or uncommon.

Anyway, 2 bags thus far. 1 had UR, Ring of Dire Boar, 5 transmorph charms, 2 trade goods and 6 or 7 greaves. Other bag had 2 transmorph charms, a few more greaves and nothing else of note.

I absolutely feel the mix is the same either way. Its all just luck.

Just pulled a 50 bag

7 Greaves
1 Charm of Transmorph
14 monster bits!
26 rare or uncommon
+2 Hammer of Smiting
Shirt of Focus.

Not excited about the Greaves

But 2 URs is pretty good. And I pulled a useful mix of monster bits. Looks like it will even out the earlier draws.

I stand corrected. My bags today havel totally sucked.

2 bags
29 monster bits
67 rare or uncommon
3 greaves
1 dwarven steel

I guess we'll see what tomorrow brings, but jeez., not even 1 charm of transmorph.

As far as preference, my preference is to draw from multiple sources at multiple times. I feel this gives me the best chance at a truly representative draw.

So I will have drawn some from all the boxes over all the days and at least one 50 bag.

I got the dragonorb "dragonelle" in my 50 bag. I got a blessed redoubt shield and an AOTF for it. 3 greaves, 4 bits (3 diff), a charm of transmorph, and more rares than uncommons but they were close to equal. No trade goods or blues.
Tenth level achieved! Now for the long journey to 11th level!

I'm not keeping detailed enough notes for Jedi's spreadsheet this year, but:

364 pulls from the treasure boxes - 2 different boxes on 2 different days

1 UR (Pouch of Tulz)
6 Charm of Transmorph
1 aragonite
1 elven bismith

nothing else of note, although I feel I may have run a bit well on monster bits.

400 ish pulls. 300 from bags and 100 from boxes. 1 ur and nothing higher. 8 CoT. 2 blue, 3 trade goods. Lots of greaves and dragonward amulets.

I will edit the doc post con to allow all CoT in one column.
