Please define your goal.

Is your goal is to globally reduce excessive quantities of a certain trade good (in this case plank) by moving it to another trade good? If so, moving Beads from Plank to Stones is likely akin to rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. My understanding from other players (certainly not myself), and looking at auction prices, is that there are too many thing generating Silk / Plank / Stones and not enough things using Silk / Plank / Stones. Solutions to this problem are many, but if your goal is different, there is no point in further comment.

Add EMs to the glut of trade goods. EMs are taken care of in the current 2020 recipes.

I have 0 EM, and only briefly had enough to transmute 1, before my bard decided to start using ammo.

How are you defining glut? I'll happily buy some at $1.25 per if you've got a bunch extra you don't know what to do with.

You can try to see if the wholesale prices drop to $1.25 each:

Token Shops have them listed for more than what you want to spend.

Currently the cost of EMs is far less than Golden Fleece.

Offering less than current wholesale prices probably won't get any takers.

Last year during development I suggested that the Totem Paints switch from DP to AI and that happened thankfully.

Beads do make more sense as PS.

I am glad for less MS this year but I don't know if that was intentional...

Your listed sources are overpriced. Whole sale value should be less than what I can buy on online stores.. otherwise I'll go to the online store. I could see, at most, paying 1.50 wholesale.

Check TD tavern - you can currently buy EM for 1.83 with forum discount and linked forum ID

Trent has them for 2.50, which means 2.38 when he runs his con specials

You could post. WTB at $1.25 and see if anyone comes forward.

Thanks for pointing out stores with lower prices.

Right now I've mostly been trying to build a stock of trade goods so every member of my party can build a relic, and I've been building the inventory through auctions. Since i don't know the recipes, it hasn't yet made sense to go the WTB route. However, when people say "I have WAY too many of X", I've been offering to buy at 1 bid increment below the best price last seen at an auction. My thought has been that people with way too many would be happy to thin out their stockpiles for cash, but I haven't had any takers thus far.

My plans are potentially going to fall apart, though, if we suddenly double the cost of relics over 2019. I'm not sure my party members will support that kind of cost, and even if they do, unexpected trade goods are coming in at high quantities which will likely drive the price even higher next year.

My goal, not necessarily the goal of others in this thread, is for the trade categories to make sense. In my mind, feel free to disagree, a bead is very obviously jewelry and therefore belongs in the Philosopher's Stone category, not Darkwood Plank. It's a change I've wanted to make for years, but haven't acted on that desire because of the tsuris a change* like that would cause. When I saw someone else suggest a category change to cull the DP-eligible tokens, I chimed in with my "secret desire". ;)

Forumites may understand how all the trade categories are defined because we are used to them, but most players aren't. To that end, the categories need to maintain their broad definitions to be as clear as possible. E.g., Mystic Silk is made from clothing, Philosopher's Stone is made from jewelry, etc. Trying to explain to people why, just as a hypothetical example, why a bead is considered a weapon would be problematic.

While I'm not opposed to altering where tokens get sorted, if the new categorizations don't make logical sense, you're just spinning your wheels. (hypothetical examples ahead) If y'all think Charms should go toward Philosopher's Stone, I think that's a logical change. If y'all want Shirts to go toward Elven Bismuth, that's not gonna happen.

A: CHANGE!?!?!?!?!?!

The following things always seemed more "magical" to me, and I thought would make more sense as Philosopher's Stone then Darkwood plank.

Charms
Runestones
Ioun Stones
Beads.

If jewelry is the broader category, I would still submit charms, beads and Ioun stones.

As long as were on the topic of a trade goods revamp, I would also like to suggest we standardize the volume model. Right now half the trade goods are unit based and half are 25 of X based. It would be a lot simpler if we were to pick a single model and stick with it.

So for example right now weapons and armor go into Steel, hide, bismuth, oil, and argonite. If all trade good were unit based, we could simplify that down to just Steel and Hide with rares counting as 6 unit, uncommons counting as 3 etc. That would give us 3 trade good (oil, bismuth, and argonite) we could recategorize other items into.

Alternitivly if we want to decrease the amount of trade goods in circulation, we could go the other way and make all trade goods require 25 of their respective component, but that would also probably require a significant re balancing of what goes into what.

Updated this. I also changed the format a little. Hopefully it's slightly easier to interpret?

If the Condensed / Super numbers change after this post, they will be wrong obviously, but hopefully they won't.

Yes thanks for the update.

Regarding making changes to the trade categories for certain Tokens I don't see the need. Sounds like extra work for TD and potential confusion for players. The addition of the two character trade good designation on the Tokens makes everything clear what the Token can be transmuted towards.

As for Plank, Silk and Stone I think TD could triple recipe requirements and still not make a dent in the market supply.
