Like Lazlo's lasso

I have two issues with this idea, sadly.

Firstly, that would turn the honor of getting a token named after you in a set from 'hey, this is our way of honoring someone' into 'this person has the most gold in a given year'

Secondly, is there a way to keep a handful of people who simply buy lots and lots of tokens (and therefore have a lot more GP income every year to put towards this proposed yearly auction) from simply rotating their names through the token sets? Does having a named token exclude you from getting another in a later year?

It wouldn't necessarily be biggest token buyer, doing lots of runs can get you lots of gold too. It is still spending lots of money, nust another way to do it.

Well, it didn't keep people from bidding on and getting more than one Arcane Recipe.

(No offense intended to that someone who did get multiple Arcane Recipes. That individual is a super-awesome person! :cheer: )

True, but the Arcane Recipe / Soulforged Tokens were set to be both limited time and unique. Named tokens that are part of the yearly token set are much more widespread use and have thus far only been named for people being honored by TPTB.

Lest I dig up old arguments, I do remember that there was a good bit of bad blood over the Arcane Recipes back in the day. I fear that changing the mechanic for the way that named tokens are added to the yearly set might dig up some of those same issues.

At first I was. Then Tobin had said multiple people could name
Them repeatedly. So I came up with a
Solution for
That.

I wouldn't spend gold
To name them.

Lol. Sorry. I'm not so good at recognizing facetiousness online without the body language/tonal component.

Paladins are not noted for their sense of humor. :P
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir
