TOPIC: 2014 Treasure Pulls

Re: 2014 Treasure Pulls 9 years 8 months ago #25

I and my minions son and friend had 94 pulls from our 8 slots in 4 runs. 86 from stamps and treasure enhancers, 5 from the 1K order bonus. And 3 extras since they were out of survivor buttons on Sunday. (Great adaptation to an unfortunate shipping mishap)

I pulled 39 uncommons. 35.7 would have been average distribution.
28 Rares. Again, 35.7 would have been average.
27 monster bits. Way above the expected 21.6.
No specials. Versus an expected .9 :( (Unless a red completion token is considered a "special" And if so, I find that to be very much less than special.)

Monster bit distribution was pretty skewed.

I think all told we pulled 150ish over the weekend between the 5 runs we had.

Got an unbalanced level of Monster bits but not one single special token. Rather disappointed at that :( Statistically should have gotten 1.4 minimum, got 0

First reported ultra rare is mine then. In 28 pulls got a Viper Strike Shirt. Shame I already had one. I also pulled a mudusa and hawk kin trophy. I'll have to sort through the rest.

82 pulls 12 monster bits

the rest mostly green with some red no "special" tokens

I am continuing my tradition of bad luck with treasure pulls.

only one break was last year with all the super stuff

While I too applied the percentages Jeff put forth to calculate "expected" pulls, its important to remember that there are several layers of randomness here.

First, there were 3 treasure pull locations, Viper, Zephyr and Volunteer Desk. So the distribution may have been different between boxes. Not by design, but just by happenstance.

Second, not all tokens were in play at the same time. The boxes get refilled from time to time, so, the distribution of token types at any given moment would vary.

Third, as tokens were pulled, the distribution could change. I'm guess by Sunday it was very different than on Thursday based on what was pulled on earlier days.

Yeah, I was hoping for a "special," but it would have been a bonus. More raw material for Aragonite would have nice as well. But, I'm pretty pleased with my monster bit selection. Enough for four full sets and a golden fleece.

I guess we are all still kind of spoiled from last years bonanza.

I believe completion tokens fell under the 'other' category, but I can see where red and green tokens could easily have been counted as the normal rare and uncommons. I would also add that your odds are not going to be cumulative, unless you are pulling all of the tokens.

I had to leave early so left my treasure tokens with my sons and there group. I haven't finished going through the coins but this is what I picked though last night. We do pull 6 people pulls from the group. I had to leave early from GENCON due to family emergency at home. So I don't know how many pulls we had at the end but I went through today and found:

1x 25,000 Bar
1x 1,000 Bar
1x Ektdar's Tinkering Tool
10+ of each monster trophy

Not sure why these were in the treasure boxes, I guess it was a mistake or if they forgot to use them to pull.

5x 5x Treasure pulls
4x Treasure pulls

A good distribution of Ingredients this year, but little in the way of gold.

Usually I pull enough gold to cover all combo GP costs for the upcoming year, but this season, significantly less.

Guess there wasn't much loot on the airship or in the pit of deadly snakes!

In my rares were three 200 gp tokens. There may have been some in the uncommons, but I really didn't pay much attention to that.

Over the course of the Con, I pulled around 70 or so tokens from the treasure pulls. The pulls were terrible for most of the con, but decent right at the end. No specials (no UR's, no transmuted, no trade items). Did get a PLAT common and a 2013 uncommon (Satyr's Pipes of Dancing) which were NOT supposed to be there. :(

Thursday evening I pulled 10 tokens from the generator in the front, and got only a single monster trophy (+6 uncommons and 3 crappy consumable rares). Several other people I know got pretty crappy pulls that day.

On Friday, I started with 5 pulls from the generator at the front and they were all uncommons. However, I then had a volunteer - Barry "Rogue Fingers" draw for me and for the next 15 or so pulls he got about 5 trophies (for around a 33% ratio).

Pulled another 10 on Saturday from the generator at the front and it was all crap (largely uncommons).

At the end of Sunday, I used up all of my remaining pulls at the final generator and got a decent amount of monster trophies (and also the PLAT common and the 2013 uncommon) at around a 30-40% ratio.

Overall I got about:

21% Monster Trophies
33% Rares
44% Uncommons
1% Commons

While I obviously wish I had gotten more monster trophies (you can never have enough!), I am actually GLAD that the treasure generators weren't as crazy as last year (which was extremely disruptive IMHO and created unrealistic expectations).

Wasn't tracking this too closely, but I believe I had 45-50 pulls. Ended with 8 monster trophies, and the Rare Lenses completion token... which was great as I had not been able to play Zephyr HC/NM difficulty and it netted me the missing token.
