BTW, I am very much against (exclusive) experience given for any Dungeon Runs outside of GenCon. I don't mind the way True Realm did it, where XP was given, but that same XP could be earned for doing the same dungeon at GenCon (either the year before, or the year after, but the two didn't stack.)
Full disclosure: I am an XP whore. I am also at max XP (and would be at the top* of the XP list, if the errors were fixed), and I am contemplating going out to WhosYerCon whether there's XP involved or not.
If I was one of those folks who couldn't afford to make it to WhosYerCon, it would really piss me off to know that I was missing out on XP. I have religiously made it to every GenCon, and played every event on the hardest mode possible - both for the fun of it, and to get the XP.
If I missed an exclusive token - available only at a specific event - I could trade for it, or offer to buy it. But if I miss out on XP, there's no way for me to get that back again.
I am not against people getting a chance to play older events (which they missed XP for because they hadn't been introduced to TD yet) should Jeff decide to re-run an older dungeon. I do think, however, that people who arrange their year/vacation days/budgets so they can make it out to GenCon every August should be able to get the full XP credit for doing so, without the expectation that they also need to make it to other random Cons and gatherings on short notice to collect XP there as well.
A quick note to those who have raised the point about "not everyone can get Max XP because not everyone can afford the tokens to play on Nightmare mode":
You don't need to be purpled out and play Nightmare for max XP. You just need to play HardCore mode, and that can be done with high end reds, or just basic tokens and a good team who you work well with. It's very possible, and probably easier than the first couple years of dungeons were (before the Hardcore or Nightmare modes existed).
If people complain that it's hard to get into a good HardCore run, maybe we should ask Jeff to make the "NIGHTMARE Slots" into "HARDCORE Slots". You could end up in a group of relative newbies (who didn't know what they were signing up for), and still beat the dungeon in Hardcore - or at least survive to the last room - to get your max XP.
So yeah: please no exclusive XP for WhosYerCon.
Thanks
*actually second from the top, since Jason Brown also has max XP, and his name comes before mine alphabetically
