I'll bet if Jeff did another True Realm, and it had exclusive completion tokens that were really nice, attendance would be a LOT higher. The problem with the last True Realm is that there wasn't anything there (Dungeons, XP, Tokens, etc) that you couldn't get at GENCON. I think it did have exclusive Buttons, but that's not nearly as big a draw as really good exclusive tokens. :)

I don't know, I went and it was pretty cool. I think a better way to get players to come might be to expand on the idea that he did the last time, update original dungeons and let them be played again. I would love to get a chance to do castle grayhawk again. Also, the whole chose your path adventure from the original true realm was awesome!!!

It would also be cool to have a dungeon that you couldn't play at Gen Con. I would go for a unique dungeon way before I would go for a cool completion token.

How will this be fair ( to everyone out there that constantly ask for reprints)
If you don't go, you won't be able to run these..if
There are tokens you won't get them either. Oh my we haven't even talked experience yet.

I hope unquie token for the con, experience for these runs and they won't be at gencon.

i would like to see a "release party" in carbondale when tokens come in. the reason is, like mentioned earlier, TD doesn't need to haul a ton of tokens somewhere to else just to pass them out.

i feel whosyercon is ideal for the "exchange party" because it allows time for folks o organize their tokens for trade-in. it also offers other things to do while waiting to get your trade items back. i also love the size of the con. it is perfect for seeing all my friends and not having everyone lost in the masses. plus TD might be able to have an "event" of its own.

I would totally volunteer to DM at WYC if there were an event, like a mini 4-room adventure.

it is nice to dream. It prob wont happen with everything else going on

I think Jeff's agreement with GENCON might prevent any sort of Dungeon at WYC. I like the idea of the Token Release Party in Carbondale and one more more token exchange parties in Indy.

Maybe one year another True Realm could be held along with the Token Release Party in Carbondale. I guess that is only if Jeff thinks he can get attendance up enough to justify it - which would probably require some "exclusive" things in Carbondale, maybe exclusive buttons, or tokens, or something along those lines.

Not saying you're wrong, but if TD has granted an exclusive contract to GenCon, they would be the only exhibitor who has.

Erm, Necklace of the Oak, and Harpy Claw Amulet would like to have a word with you in the alley...;)

Not sure, but maybe Boots of Warmth, too, and Censer of Sacrifice? Don't remember if we got those at GenCon as well...

Are you sure those weren't available at GENCON also? I thought they were. Even if they weren't, the important thing is that it wasn't announced up front that there would be anything at True Realm unique from True Dungeon. If Jeff did ever do a True Realm kind of event in the future, I think it would be good to have some unique events/swag that you could only get at True Realm, to encourage more participation. I went with a bunch of my friends, and we all had a great time, but I'm sure the overall attendance was way under what Jeff had hoped for.

Can't say if there might have been some in the treasure pulls at GenCon, since you never know what may be in there. That said, I saw the Arcane Recipe from the Treasure Box, but no Necklace of the Oak or Harpy Claw Amulet. Those were the effect of the AoW at True Realm, one for each of the different dungeons.

Quite true they were not announced ahead of time.
XP was given for True Realm, and was announced ahead of time.

If there were to be something unique, it should definitely be announced ahead of time, so our more distant players as well as people who need significant time to get days off from work (especially for those of us who work weekends), have an opportunity to plan ahead.

FYI - those tokens were at True Realm and also at the next True Dungeon. I don't believe there were any tokens unique to True Realm.

I may be mistaken, but I believe there was a silver colored coin at True Realm, intended to be traded for internally provided snacks, and that coin was not distributed elsewhere.

There was unique experience for the True Realm dungeons that I believe could not be acquired elsewhere.

I may be mistaken, but I thought I read that there would be mini dungeons similar to True Realm at the next Whosyercon in February 2014. True?

Creation of the Necklace and Amulet was not the function of the AoW at GenCon in 2009. At GenCon, the effect was the first year of the die roll.

If the Necklace of the Oak and Harpy Claw Amulet were at GenCon, it would have only been in the Treasure box.

I have yet to see/hear of anyone who didn't go to True Realm say they got one from the treasure box at GenCon in 2009. The Goblet of Healing was in the treasure boxes at True Realm and GenCon in 2009.

The posting regarding TD at Who's Yer Con for AG players is in the store under the Adventurer's Guild Packs.

You know when it's really slow on the forum when:
You check back to see if anything's new 10 times without seeing any update...

You talk about it being too quiet...

We talk about minutiae from years past...;)

We talk about our wistfulness regarding True Realm, and desire to see it again...

You decide to get an early start on your 2013 income tax filing.

Anyone else care to chime in with others? :)

Maybe my memory is fading but I thought the necklace of the oak and harpy claw amulet were end of dungeon reward tokens.
