Like others have mentioned I can only speak of my purchases. 2010 I bought 100 at GenCon. 2011 I got 250 to get a ring of riches. By the end of the month fo 2012 I will have 4k in. 2.5k was to get 10 charms of synergy. At that point I figured it would be good to get the second 2k to get the rewards.

I bought way to much this year. Way too much. I'm talking token packs, gamingetc, Paul (damn you and your awesome deals), as well as my normal trades I do every year with Lazlo and Smak.

I believe the increase in sales (at least my feeling) is that TD looks like it will be a stable product for years to come. I love magic the gathering because it is the only CCG that I know where I don't worry about longevity and the value of my collection going from something to nothing. Last year I wanted a Horn of Plenty but couldn't justify the price tag. Now I feel I can justify it.

So, now I'm wondering how much the average token cart increased from prior year.... Number of Orders * Avg Dollars per Order = Total dollars.

(again... no need for specifics, but if the majority of increase came from Number of Orders it's likely new players. If the Average Dollars per Order is driving the growth, its repeat players/impact of transmuted).

Oh the 4k in tokens is just TD.com, not certain how much I have spent with third parties.

Certainly this and last year's URs were quite nice, and that was a factor for us.

Another thing to consider (not yet mentioned) is that the economy *feels* better this year than last year or the one before. Perhaps you would have had more slow steady growth if it weren't for the great recession.

This is my first year buying and I have to say that I've spent more in the secondary market than on tokens from TD

But with out the thrill of the GT I woul not be signed up for 10 runs and the true crafting

I fully expect to try again next year with a larger purchase

Money spent 600 on TD plus runs @500 more

Secondary market 2200

This is roughly my airfare !

Jeff, I suspect the Charm of Synergy helped drive sales also, I think there were a lot of people/groups getting 10 of those in order to assure the +10 HP per person.

So you clearly need the Charm of Treasure next year to keep token sales at a high level :)

This was my downfall this year. I can safely say that I won't be repeating it next year. (I hope)

I can guarantee a purchase of 10 Charms of Treasure for myself if it is offered next year :)

2 things I liked about this years tokens:
The theme was way cooler than underwater - Dwarves Kick Butt.
Transmutation - I bought way, way more than I would have without it.
