Yup $12 for 8 Truecraft tokens.

You can check it out HERE

The fact that they're charging $12 for this event grinds me the wrong way, but I'm willing to wait until May for further details.

Well tokens cost Jeff money so they shouldn't be free for us or Jeff would lose his shirt.

I'm reserving judgement until we know what it is were judging. In my limited experience TD has been good in terms of making sure players get value for their money so if Jeff says the surprise is worth $12 I'll go along with it at least until I know what it is I'm going along with =)

I haven't yet been disappointed with anything TD related I've spent cash on. If Jeff needs $ for it then it must be cool and fun.

It sounds like each of the 8 tokens you get for the $12 works like an admission ticket to one of the crafting activities. If so, that works out to $1.50 per admission ticket, which seems very reasonable. Although I'm betting a LOT of people will keep at least one of each of the crafting tokens for their collections :)

I'm somewhat of a newbie having casually played with friends the last few years and never really looked at tokens seriously having been supplied with outfits.

This changed this year for the first time because I knew I was going to be able to make it to Gencon instead of it being a sort of last minute deal.

I like the crafting concepts, and it is a handy way to "use" up all the spare tokens the heavy orders generate.

However after a few days reading the website a few times I'm still working on understanding the full structure and how things work.

I'm 95% sure of a lot of things but this is the initial hurdle newbies (like me) have to step up to. The XL sheet helps a lot in sorting out token types but even so a few hours of thought needs to be put in.

I do love the idea of simpler recipes, things that can be made from the commons released that year. Even a memento token of some kind, limited to new players. I this might encourage older players to interact with newer players (the collectors for sure) and help create more interaction and explanations of how everything works.

A question I do have, I'm hoping to work my way to a Supreme Ring of Elemental Command. this is a relic class.

Are relic and Exalted are only possible for one year? with a new set each year.

Are the same Legendary are possible every year?

Cheers

Per the Transmuted page, the current crop of Enhanced, Exalted, and Relic tokens can be transmuted up until December 1, 2013. Legendary tokens can be transmuted at any time in the future.

To put it a different way, if a transmuted token has a year symbol on it, you can craft it for approximately one year after the token was released. Transmuted tokens without a year symbol can be made indefinitely.

I think Jeff has said there will be new transmuted tokens of every category released every year. Assuming that's true, there will new new Enhanced, Exalted, Relic, and Legendary tokens released each year. The Enhanced, Exalted, and Relic recipes will expire the year after being released, but Legendary recipes won't expire.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

Hey Brad,

Welcome to the forums!

I think part of the confusion comes from the recent changes in how receipes work. Up until this year, receipes created "Crafted" tokens, and were only usable for one year. Starting this year, the receipes make "Transmuted" tokens, all of which are usable until December 1, 2013. After that, only the Legendary level recipes are usable, and those are good forever.

Basically, you have about 19 months to get your ring made.

Almost all tokens common or otherwise can be turned into something. Sure it may be dwarven steel or minotaur hide for folks that only have commons. while those might not seem immediaetly useful to newbies they could have value to them in the future or other players would take an interest in them.

I don't think there needs to be a combo token that only new players can get. They will muddle everything and be more problematic then helpful. On the list of transmuted items there are some that are more common than others and I think those fill that nitch quite well.

Hi Valetutto,

all very valid, however if you want to get someone excited you need to have a hook that grabs them right away.

The runs are great fun, but afterwards the tokens just kinda sit there unless you know about crafting.

However I saw a little about this True Craft, which sounds like Jeff may have already solved the problem I'm thinking off. (refer to my sig line)

According to the new GenCon newsletter, we only get 7 Truecraft tokens for $12. This deal gets better all the time!
