If your token collection is worth more that your car, you might be a tokenholic.

If your token collection weighs more than your car, you might be a tokenholic.

If you waste time on a message board, adapting one of Foxworthy's routines to True Dungeon, you might be a tokenholic.

Hello I am greyseer and I am a token addict.

I disguise my problem with the fact that I run a team of 10 players through and as such its "alright" that I get all the tokens that I can to optimize the team.

I charge my meatshields...er teammates less money for a TD run than what I paid for the tickets, in exchange I get ALL the tokens from the run. In exchange they let me handle the collection and trading and sorting and hauling and choosing the PYP year after year.

When my friends joke about sleeping with my mom, I chuckle, when they joke about stealing my TD tokens and selling them on eBay, I get upset and question if they are really my friends.

That's because you are like me- you get what you want.

I am sorry for the affliction that you all share.

Me? Well, every year I make a donation to True Dungeon to help Jeff buy props to make the dungeon ever better. It does my heart good to be able to give back a little bit.

I look forward to receiving the tokens that Jeff sends me as a thank you gift for my donation. I put them in my NPR tote bag and listen to them clink as I shake them around.

I can't wait until Dec when I can make another donation. Until then, I will just have to content myself with counting my gold. Maybe I can give some to a needy player, who just might choose to send me a shiny purple token in return.

Hello, My name is Archmage 78 and to my to my great shock I've discovered that I am a Tokenhalic.

My first clue came at the beginning of Gen Con this year when I had far too many things in common with Smakdown. I love you Smak, I long to be just like you..........

Ahem,

My next clue came when I, like Druegar longingly looked through the token year book looking for upgrades for my Ranger when to my extreme horror it hit me, I already have all of the upgrades

Well then what am I to do about that...................... Oh, I know I'll start getting tokens for another character, one that I will barely get a chance to play, yea that's a great idea, more tokens.=

As I sit here surrounded by stacks of tokens, I muse, how did I ever get like this? I played TD for 3 years without a single UR to my name. Then I thought, wow, wouldn't it be cool if I got just one, yea that would be really cool. I could sit down at a table and pull out my shinny new purple and all the newbies would be like ohhhhhh look at him, he's so cool. So for one year I played with that one. Then something happened, it turns out that Jeff doesn't let you see the fine print, the part where it warns you that you can't get just one. Really try it for yourself, I bet you can't own just one, really, their like mice, you start with one and you put it in your binder and the next time you open it they've become like 20 of them.

So gentle reader, please learn from my weakness and stay away from the plastic crack.....

Never mind just buy more tokens, you know you want to!!!!:silly:  :side: :woohoo:  :P ;) :woohoo:

hello folks. you all know me. i'm a tokenholic also. i would like to take this moment to pay my respects to those that have delved before us, some still around and some missed dearly...

silky - i saw him in the tavern/cityscape in '05. trading like a mad man to build a set from that year. i must have got to close and not realized that it was contagious.

jason - he was on my first ever run of TD, indy '05. it was coincidentally a GT run. he was major cool about explaining things and helping out a bunch of noobs (later to be known as Clan Smakdown).

gary - we met at indy '05 and his enthusiasm for the game was infectious. he bought massive amounts of tokens, but made it seem like they were not required to have fun (and rightly so). he always seemed to be around lending a hand here or there and never failing to help out a stranger with a "token" question.

if not for these gentlemen, i might never have become a tokenholic. and for all this i thank them.

One thing I learned, which probably falls into the ways to tell...I'm debating getting a poker chip case so I can easily carry my tokens around. Does that count, too? ;-)

Yeah... I went to TOVA this year, that is the best hours of auction GenCon can bring you. And I bought exactly one thing, a poker chip case. It was sleek and black and red velvet inside and I loved it. And bought it for probly $5 more than I should have, but I have to protect my babies ;).
