TOPIC: Ultra Rare Combo Item - Supreme Ring of Elemental Command

Why sympathy for Jeff? He is creating highly desirable tokens at an accelerated rate it would seem. I would say TD is looking at a 2011 windfall.

<br />I don't really get the spazzy comments so far. There is no situation where swapping would be a better situation than having 1 ring that basically does the same thing as all the others combined. Either there's some sort of insanity going around or I don't get what is up. maybe it's like gary's take on the RoR in the other thread. I just don't understand what the confusion could be. It's like being told you can combine the HoP and AoW into one item but saying you personally prefer to switch back and forth between runs.<br />

<br /><br />I hear you, and I do see that the slot benefit is nice - although the way it is now I can have four different party members wear the rings and possibly prevent damage, but definitely get a mini-Amulet of Thorns affect each.  The way I'm looking at it - if you spent $1K on tokens, would you take four different Ultra-Rares as your pick, or would you take this - plus if you take this you have to hand in one of each Trade Item Token.  This doesn't seem awesome enough to me to justify four PYP picks and one of each trade item token.  I'd love to have it, just not sure if I'm willing to pay that price.

<br /><br />I do think you're missing something and your example is comparing lemons to oranges. The mega HoP+AoW amulet would indeed be better than either one of them alone for an individual. They occupy the same slot and their benefits would easily combine with no loss of functionality. (Though I would no longer be able to loan a fellow party member my AoW if I was wearing my HoP.) But that's not quite the case with the One Ring and here's why:<br /><br />If a party possesses all four Ro_EC, they could be spread out amongst two to four people for a total of 20 points of potential elemental damage reduction and eight points of damage shielding. Since the full set of Ro_EC must be sacrificed to make a single One Ring, only one person in the party gets any benefit and the potential for elemental DR and total DS has been reduced significantly.<br /><br />Even if I have all four rings and don't share them with anyone, I'm still losing two points of DS. Sure, there may be some people who can create a One Ring and still have additional Ro_EC left over (thus keeping the four point DS), but I imagine they'll be in the minority.<br /><br />So yes, I stand by my spazzy, not thought out assertion that the One Ring, as listed, is not worth my sacrifice.

Only if monsters all of a sudden started shooting freaking rainbows at the party. I think I can only think of 1 single TD monster that used more than one element. What you really have is 3 party members who all but wasted a ring slot and 1 who gets 5 DR. Frankly, dealing 2 points of backlash damage to a monster for the cost of a ring slot doesn't sound like a winner to me. Instead, you can have one char shielded from 5dr of any elemental damage and deal back unblockable damage to boot. Plus, everyone else gets to wear a ring.

Beholders don't shoot out rainbows. In fact, I'm not sure beholders do any elemental damage at all. I remember charm person, charm monster, disintegrate, cause wounds, telekinese, slow, turn to stone, the anti-magic of course, and a bite. <br /><br />I've never picked up any elemental rings, figuring I didn't need them for any of my builds. Playing tanks means that I don't really need the DR. If it's enough to take me down with the saves I have, my entire party is already dead anyway. 5 HP won't make a crapload of difference to me. If I were playing wizard or something, I would definitely swap for one.

I will only trade them in if Henwy does....or if I can get it in the color I want.

"One ring to rule them all?"  Sadly, not.

aaawwwwww.....come on all of you. There's two years left in this elemental command ring series. Do you really think it's going to finish with all this mumbly surliness?
