TOPIC: Black Pearl, what does it specifically negate (*spoilers*)

Okay -- I have a quick question -- this information about the ioun stone applies to the players who own and wear an ioun stone black pearl, correct? I mean, if you have this item on a party tmember then all the magical bonuses to hit (that have been previously discussed) against that player are cancelled too, correct? In essence, ioun stone black pearl works against Smoak or others in the same manner as discussed here.

Thanks much. Peace.

True, but monsters rarely have magical/item enhancing pluses to hit. Almost all, if not all, of their attack bonus is due to "natural" strength/abilities (sort of like the +3 to hit with melee weapons that the barbarian has due to his 17 strength).

Thus this is a token mostly designed to negate player's tokens.

This might help a lot with the maralith in nightmare dragonward,

oh, new thought, if true arena ever comes back, will the black pearl need to be banned?
To make the spell work in TD, our "Silence" spell just makes the whole room silent. It can't be aimed or what not.

Good idea, though!

You will want the players guide to be updated to reflect that change, I recall the year of the Giant it was 10 foot and we all huddled around the cleric. Last year vs. the troll it was the whole room. So if it is the whole room going forward, that's great, but needs to be corrected in the players guide so there is no confusion.
