I am comfortable saying the surcoat is slotless, the thing I still need to discuss with Jeff is if there are other restrictions.

Yes, traditionally the surcoat was an outer garment worn over other clothing or even armor, in a physical reality sense, you could also wear a cloak over the surcoat, but what I want to veryify is if there will be any magical restrictions, such as the surcoat not working with a robe or cloak of the mage or something like that.

Probably not as it would go agains our other simplified conventions, but I have to at least give Jeff the opportunity to weigh in.

Dave
Natural (unmodified) Bard's Song applies to all attacks, the tokens were restricted to augment melee only.

You might want to put this exact wording in the guide. Its still oddly written. I understand it, but I can also see how someone might think no damage bonus from bard songs ever apply to ranged.

I would suggest altering the guide to read as follows:

...The attack modifier stays at +1. Damage modifiers from instrument tokens only affect melee attacks (e.g, no bows). The Natural (unmodified) Bard's Song still apply to ranged.

Old
...The attack modifier stays at +1. Damage modifiers only affect melee attacks (e.g, no bows).
Sweet a combat room, we won't take damage!

So - if the Bard uses Widseth's Lute, can he/she still add the basic Bardsong bonus to missile attacks, and still be able to attack with a missile weapon?

In my understanding Yes, The bard would get +1+1 to his own(and others) ranged weapons and confer +1+2 to the folks in melee.

But it would be nice to have 100% confirmation on this.

Guys, the Bard does not get the bonus. From Player's guide "The Bard may also perform an impromptu song or rhyme when they choose to “inspire” the party during combat, resulting in +1 to all combat rolls and a +1 damage bonus for all other party members.

And yes, Widseth's Lute allows them to attack, melee or ranged. From the token guide: "This means the Bard can make a melee or missile attack, but they cannot cast a spell or do anything else that requires the Bard to stop singing."

arent we supposed to get the details for this years combo tokens sometime before gencon?

i know we have most of that info through the lore stuff, but i thought there was going to be an official announcement...particularly for those not keeping up with the lore.

Just one of those minor nits for after Gencon. In looking at the description for Pearl of Prayer, it looks really powerful.

'enhance the effects of a cast spell (not scroll) by +3 points'

This suggests any Druid or Cleric spell. My first thought was COOL! Bull's Strength at +7. Then I looked at the token which specifies healing only, which I would assume is correct. Still nice, but not as cool as a +7 Bulls Strength or +4 Bless. =D

Thanks for keeping this up Dave. It is an extremely well used tome, and you do an awesome job of keeping it current. Thanks!

How many points of Frost Damage does the "Frost Short Bow" do? I know the +2 Flaming short bow is 2 fire (equal to the items magical bonus).
Nope, just a typo.

The both are not turned in, but the MWTT is used only once per dungeon and the ETT is allowed once per room.

Thanks for clarifying this, Dave.

Is page 6 going to be updated at some point in the future to reflect the fact that ETT can be used once per room, rather than once per dungeon?

Yes, the version I will be printing for the con will indicate this. It should be posted as soon as Jeff looks it over.

And I added some text about them both in the new players guide.

Dave
