TOPIC: Two Types of token bags in 2010?

Re: Two Types of token bags in 2010? 14 years 7 months ago #13
I'd hope either bag could be bought in the pre-sale season...I mean how else to we get that Common and Uncommon GOLD???

I'd say NO if we can ONLY buy the Light bags...GIVE ME TOKENS!!!

I agree with Gary, I need tokens for variety in our local DnD game.

Except that it's not like they'd be handing you a minotaur hide token. The way it's being suggested you'd get a token in the bag that is equal to 1/3 of a trade item, so you'd need three of them to make one. Now I get that it's still less tokens. I'm just interested in the fact that people would pay 10 dollars for a bag of 5 tokens the same way that they'd pay 10 dollars for a bag of 10 tokens.

Kim

I would assume such an arrangement would be optional. It would serve to save TD money and everyone time.

I think they meant a third of the bags have minotaur hide, not the bags have a 1/3 of a minotaur hide.

Jennifer

I was thinking the same price. Basically my goal was to give the same value for same price and just get rid of excess tokens that I am now throwing in a shoe box until I can get them to Dave.

Ok, Revised Idea to at least deal with the common gold issue. In the 2009 set, there were 7 tokens that gave gold out of the 40 commons tokens. And these tokens added up to 95 GP in value. So if you purchased 6 bags (42 common tokens) you should have averaged a bit more than 95 gold.

Slot #1: rare
Slot #2: Uncommon
Slot #3: Uncommon
Slot #4: 1 in 100 Purple,
16 in 100 100 GP coin (or gem or something) (basically 1 in 6)
83 in 100 1/3 of reserve token. (so 3 of these new token could be traded in for 1 reserve tokens).

I am still thinking about what to do about common healing maybe another 1 in 6 sort of thing.

Good questions and discussion. I think there may be a workable idea in here somewhere.

I was working on my idea while Darkrose was working on his, very similar concepts.

Instead of forcing Jeff & co to print up tokens that are worth "1/3 of a reserve token", why not just put an actual reserve token into every 3 (or 10 or whatever) packs, and then have the other packs include gp (at a rate which will keep the average GP per bag stable)

As for the cost of these, I would be happy to pay $10/bag... especially if I knew that True Dungeon was getting more bang for my buck because they can invest the extra income directly into the dungeon.

I still save money, not having to pay as much for shipping Dave a bunch of commons every year.

I would like:
Slot 1) Rare
Slot 2) Uncommon
Slot 3) Uncommon
Slot 4a) 75% 001 - 075 25 Gold
Slot 4c) 20% 076 - 095 <common ingredient>
Slot 4d) 04% 096 - 099 2-point Healing (an Uncommon token with some other bonus or a Common out of combat token)
Slot 4e) 01% 100 - 100 Ultra Rare

I hope my math is correct. Make the average normal pack for the set contain 20 gold. Make each pre-order special save on shipping pack 1.25 as much (or whatever the multiple is), or 25 gold.

Whatever you select to be the average gold amount in a normal pack just please make the special pack gold token in a multiple of 5.
Darkrose,
You need to increase chance on the 2-point heal. In the current set you have a 7 in 40 chance of getting one in each bag (about 17%). To make up for this you could increase the Gold Piece to 45 GP and make it occur 60%. Then the healing could be 19%. And your <common Ingredient>, is that a reserve token or an ingredient?

The only downside I see is when some commons are really useful (like healing) and you'd be missing out on those. Plus, you will need certain commons for combo trade-ins.

Good point.

I would just make it so that the special pack and the normal pack had about the same average gold value, healing value, and ingredient value (whatever they are called - like the dwarven steal). As close as you can get for the set. It should not be that hard if you design it that way from the start.
