TOPIC: Permanent TrueAdventures site?

Permanent TrueAdventures site? 19 years 4 months ago #1

This question keeps popping up in my mind every time I drive to one of my local gaming store and see countless empty shops in shopping/strip malls. Everything from a hold in the wall to entire grocery stores..gone.

I was wondering if TrueAdventures has/had any plans on creating a permenent TrueDungeon somewhere? A place operated 5-7 days a week where people could travel and experience it like Disneyland??

Maybe work with others around the country to expand TrueAdventures and set up multiple dungeons and modules that maybe switch or change around each month.

Whenever you're ready to fund it, we're ready to do it. The thing that keeps this event running is the volunteers and sponsorship from GenCon and Wizards of the Coast.

I'm not sure that there would be a way to have actual paid employees to run people through a dungeon for 5-7days a week and make any money doing it.

One way to make that dream a reality is to buy a gizillion treasure tokens. Then maybe it'll justify having one.

I think that's why he mentioned it would be something like Disneyland where you got a huge cash resource.

Although, I wouldn't suggest them because they haven't changed the freakin' Star Tours ride ever and that seems like it's pretty easy to do. So you'd probalby have the same True Dungeon forever if it went somewhere like there.

While the idea of a True Dungeon coming soon to a strip mall near you isn't likely to happen in the near future, it is possible that we might someday expand the number of True events we run. It has been mentioned on other threads that the options for True events are almost limitless (True Cyberpunk, True SciFi, True Cuthulu, True you name it). As TD and TH continue to grow and thrive it might open the doors for these other events.

Well one way I was thinking this could come about is not for it to fall all in the current members of True Adventure's lap. Instead, a guide could be created that gave a run down on what is invovled in turning a module into a dungeon or adventure. Then others wishing to take on the funding and time could setup around the country. Perhaps a True Adventure group/board could then be invited out, once the construction is complete and get a TrueAdventures blessing. They would also be able to sell tokens and network with the other TrueDungeons, etc.

What gave me this idea is this.. around Halloween each year sometimes out in the middle of corn fields or abandoned warehouses, Haunted Houses pop-up all over the place. They are able to setup a haunted house, run it, and tear it down by the end of Halloween.

TrueFranchise! Huzzah! :D

Joking aside, it would be neat, but I don't know if I'd really trust just anyone with money to use the True Adventures name. It's Jeff's baby, after all, and having other people raise your baby... well, it's just not good. :)
