Holy sh**...$7.00 for a bag of 9 tokens? Bit pricey for young-uns like me! :?

I personally think with a $20.00 event ticket you should start with a bag of tokens. Yes indeed, it is very enjoyable, but alls you get out of it is a coaster? <Very cool coasters btw...Have my incense dragon puffing out smoke on it>. It'd be cool if you could supply a bag of 5 tokens or something at your arrival to the event, and then you can purchase more if you'd like. I got a bag FULL of gold/gems, and then I grabbed flint and steel out of the box. <My rare was a tiger eye gem :(>

And what happened with my gold/gems? They are sitting in my dresser. What happened to the bag? <Very useful!> It's holding dice for me.

Gold. How useful is this the whole time? Especially when you can only buy things in one place...The start. It just seems to me that you should either,

1) Allow more time to purchase things in the begining,
or
2) Add more shops to the dungeon, to make gold/gems more useful to your expedition.

Have a blacksmith or something, and allow people to haggle with them a bit, and try to restock on stuff before going back out on your adventure. Could make the adventure a little more interesting.

Anyways! Thats all i've got for now.

The tavern was a huge hit this year, and I think players really enjoyed being able to barter with the innkeeper. Obviously we haven't closed the door on Module two yet so Module Three is still a distance tickle in our minds, but I think it is safe to say the tavern will return and players will have more time to interact/trade etc.

First, the adventure is completely playable and winnable with no tokens at all. The value of tokens would immediately drop if they were handed out like candy. Also, there were many opportunities to pick up additional tokens in the TD (I came out about +8 tokens including a Very Rare).

Second, you are paying for the play experience, not the physical reward. I wasn't expecting to walk out with anything in my hands and found the coaster to be a nice touch. It's like paying to watch a movie. Except much cooler.

I expect these issues to be addressed as the token system was very popular. Many players enjoyed the tavern and bartering with other players.

On the usefulness of Treasure Tokens:

I was one of the first people to see the second module for TD, and Jeff knew going into it that players would have chances to buy and find treasure tokens. This meant that they needed chances to USE treasure tokens.

I went over the list of treasure tokens with Jeff and we (and others) discussed several uses. I KNOW that by the time the tokens were off to be printed (er, I mean, forged), Jeff had came up with at least one use in the module for EVERY treasure token.

Yes, the place to use gold (for trading with someone other than other players) was right at the beginning (or at the Font of Wisdom--WHAT!?!? you didn't see the Font of Wisdom--tsk, tsk!). However, that doesn't mean that it will be that way next year. The tokens are designed to be collector items, but also to be usable in later TD modules.

So I have two things to say:

One: if you didn't use your treasure tokens, don't act like you got ripped off--you had chances to use them.

Two: if you didn't use your treasure tokens, don't worry, you'll have more chances next year or in SoCal!

On the usefulness of Treasure Tokens:

As a DM, I have really one thing to say about token usefulness...

Tokens save stupid players.

I don't mean that the players themselves are stupid, rather that some of their actions are stupid. For example, I had a party of older gentlemen, most of them pretty sharp. We got to what I think was the sixth room, a room that if not handled with care (or with a common token and some thought) can easily kill an entire party.

And that room should have killed that party - if not for all the bloody tokens they threw at me. I must have had 10 tokens in my pouch by the time they got through, and only ONE character died (the paladin was unfortunate enough to botch two saves in a row).

So, in conclusion, if you're going to rush through the dungeon, $9 is a small price to pay for your survival. :D
