Release too early. Sounds like some
Nice Corporate spin to me.
More likely they stopped selling well
After the fans seen the movie.

Chief Executive Officer Brian Goldner says the company made an error by releasing toys too far ahead of the franchise’s most recent movie, “The Last Jedi.” That contributed to disappointing sales of the products during the holidays — a season that was already hurt by the bankruptcy of Toys “R” Us Inc.

“The fact that we began to merchandise the film in September and the film came out in December was just too long a period of time to sustain retail interest,” Goldner, 54, said in an interview. It didn’t help that lots of other toys were hitting around the same time, he said, “with an array of entertainment initiatives coming to market.”

Based on the frenzy over the opening of Star Wars land at Disneyland and Disney World this year, I wouldn’t worry about the cash cow status of the franchise.

That they didn’t

D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

Just because her parents were 'nothing' doesn't mean her grandparent(s) were nothing. Also those that raised her might not be her bio parents. Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen would have been nothings by Kylo's standards I would bet. However Kenobi choose to place Luke with them for some reason. Shmi Skywalker would have been a nothing to Kylo as well. She was a slave and then a moisture farmer. Yet she gave birth to Anakin. If Rey was placed with nothings there could be a reason.

That said I am guessing with the grandparents idea. She is a Skywalker more or less and a clone will be involved. I would be fine with her being a nobody from no one too though.

I'm thinking Rey is test tube baby/clone. A hybrid of Luke and someone else (Mara ideally, but not holding my breath). The reflections in the cave were other copies that died young or were not even born. And her 'parents' were nobodies because they were machines, even though her genetic parents are totally awesome.
