Ok, as I've mentioned in a few other posts, I've recently learned to make chainmaille. I have Jeff's permission to post here letting everyone know that I will have items available for sale. The one I'm especially proud of is a token wrap, which lets you wear a TD token as a pendant. Perfect for those prized Artisan Tokens, as well as rare armor and other items. I've attached a few pics, and you can view other items here . They are available in several different metals and colors. (Note, other coins/tokens/chips can also be wrapped) Here is a price list for those, and a few other items I am currently making:

EDIT - For current prices, please email me. Thank you.

Enamelled Copper is copper wire enamelled with plastic. Colors are vibrant. Colors: Gunmetal, Black, Brown, Burgundy, Dark Blue, Dark Green, Egg White, Kelly Green, Magenta, Powder Blue, Purple, Red, Violet.

Annodized Titanium is titanium treated electrically to cause a colored layer. It is hypoallergenic. Colors are muted and "mottled", varying from ring to ring, and even from side to side of the same ring. Colors: Violet, Teal, Bronze, Dark Blue, Light Blue, Gold, Purple, Green, Rose

Annodized Niobium is niobium treated electrically to cause a colored layer. It is hypoallergenic. The colors are beautifully vibrant. Colors: Bronze, Shimmerring Brown, Royal Purple, Cobalt Blue, Light Blue, Yellow, Rose Gold, Electric Salmon, Dark Rose, Violet, Indigo, Peacock Blue, Teal, Green

Annodized Aluminum is aluminum treated electrically to cause a colored layer. Color is bright, but not as vibrant as niobium. Colors: Black, Blue, Gold, Green, Orange, Violet, Red, Bronze, Dark Purple, Turquoise, Pink

Note: The color on annodixed metal is fairly durable, but CAN be scratched off, especially on aluminum.

All colors are subject to availability. Dice bags are a combo of aluminum rings and black rubber rings. This results in a lightweight, flexible bag. For token wraps, you can either have me make it and put it on your token at Gen Con, or you can ship me the token and I will put it on and ship it back. You will be responsible for all shipping charges. All orders require a 50% down payment. If you have any questions, PLEASE ask before ordering. Please keep in mind that these items are made by hand, and not until ordered. Depending on if I have the rings I need or have to order them, it will take from 2-6 weeks for your item to be completed. And custom orders of other items are welcome!!

You can email or PM me to ask questions or order. Also feel free to post questions here.

You seem to be doing some really cool stuff there. I'm just having a hard time deciding what color and metal that I'm interested in. You could have a really nice little business going there.

Kim

Thanks KL and DD.

I've registered the domain names chainmaillewench.com and chainmailwench.com, but haven't looked in to hosting yet. I've just started investigating website building software. I have a paypal account set for "business use", but it is under my horse business name, HB Equine. And I just set up a new email account, ChainmailleWench at gmail dot com.

I'll gladly accept help/suggestions/tips for setting up the website. And that reminds me, I need to email the person who is working on a logo for me.

A little more info on metals.
Copper
Copper tarnishes very easily turning dull and darker and even green when left damp. Enammeled copper is coated in a layer of colored enamel (plastic). The coating is quite flexible and durable. Not as strong as aluminum, but this is hardened copper, stronger than what is used for electrical wiring.

Bronze
Bronze is similar to brass but more coppery in color. Excellent for trim and jewelry. Slightly more corrosion resistant than brass but has similar aging effects. Bronze turns a duller, darker color as it oxides and can turn green if left damp.

Brass
Brass has a reputation for being weak - this is not true if you get good brass. Tempered brass is much stronger than untempered brass.
Brass is excellent for trim and jewelry. It is yellow in color. Brass turns a duller, darker color as it oxides and can turn green if left damp.

Aluminum
Aluminum weighs only 1/3 as much as steel, and is 3.4 times lighter than copper. Aluminum is suitable for a wide variety of uses from combat grade armor to delicate jewelry. It is excellent for pieces that need to be light such as costume pieces. Aluminum is the material of choice for women's chainmail fashions.
The main complaint with aluminum is that it leaves a blackish residue on whatever it touches. This residue is aluminum oxide, you can clean it off but it will keep coming back. There are 2 things that can be down to permanently prevent aluminum oxide - anodizing and etching. The best alternative is to buy bright aluminum. Bright aluminum has been drawn into wire with a smoother surface finish than other aluminum. This makes it shiny and it does not leave as much black residue if any. NOTE - I use only Bright or Anodized Aluminum.

Bright Aluminum
Aluminum with a very smooth finish that is chemically cleaned after drawing. May dull with age and handling but washing in hot soapy water shines it up.

Anodized Aluminum
Anodizing makes aluminum clean, corrosion resistant and colorful. The anodized coating is slightly harder than aluminum but can be scratched by steel and harder metals. The coating is as corrosion resistant as stainless steel in normal conditions. This is a hard temper aluminum which is stronger than annealed steel or colored copper. It is not available in the size I need for token wraps.

Titanium
Titanium is an expensive but amazing metal. Titanium is 1/2 the weight of steel.

Niobium
Niobium ia 6% heavier than steel and 22% lighter than sterling silver. Anodizing niobium creates an oxide layer. The thickness of this layer creates the colors. The color may vary from batch to batch slightly. The anodized layer has appropriate properties for jewelry, but it is not indestructible. It can wear off with rubbing against a harder material.

Sterling Silver
Sterling Silver is made from 92.5% silver. A beautiful material but it does tarnish with age.

14K Gold Filled
The gold filled wire I get is made from a 14K yellow gold tube (5% by weight) filled with a hard temper brass. There is very little chance of wearing through the gold layer with normal use.

Heidi,

Very nice! If I ever want to wear one of my tokens, I am definitely coming to you!
Are you planning on making any other token related products? Like a multi-token holder? ;)

-D

I'm seeing several spin-off apparel pieces... two or three of those attached to leather forearm bracers or attached to a belt buckle or boot. =)

I hadn't thought much about other stuff, although I can pretty easily attach the wrapped token to a bracelet, and possibly some other items. I'm also working on a few different chain designs for people who want the chain to match the token.
