TOPIC: HP Tracking

HP Tracking 3 days 22 hours ago #1

This was a topic of a lot of discussion this past week and wanted to see if someone smarter than I could run with one of the ideas.

A few of us (myself included) use knitting counter rings like this one: Link
These are great but as a healer it’s hard to see other people’s status as opposed to the paperclips on your card.

I noticed a fair amount of people have smart watches and was wondering if someone knew of or could make a smart watch app the simply counts down from 99 (as a starting point even though some have more HP) and can swipe up or down to raise or lower the number. And to get even fancier it would be nice if it goes from green to red the lower it gets. This would give us healers a nice indicator for how “bloody” your character is and allow quick health adjustments.

There may be something out there but I am not the best with searches and didn’t find anything at a quick glance (I have IOS)

I did find this page that linked an app as something close, but would just want simple numbers without the background.

Would depend on the smart watch, but my Garmin would be easy enough to create something like that

For iOS, I made Tull Life Counter. On the phone it’s a dice roller, but also has a connection to Apple Watch. You can set up your base hit points on the phone and use the watch dial to adjust your HP

I and others are big fans of Crit Success counter rings but that company has been gone for years unfortunately. I'd like to try something on my smart watch (pixel watch v1) but i'm always leery of anything electronic failing that i have to rely on that constantly.

I would like to try using one of the 2 wheel style health tracker, like many use for CCGs, but want to find a file.ti print at a larger scale for easy visibilty.

I'm hearing: Black filament for the fixed parts, glow in the dark filament for number dial numbers

Not sure how it'd help far as 3d printing but surprisingly the black and white Crit success ring is the easier to read model to me followed by the white on blue, just the high contrast with easy clear font. I use the paperclips or just sharpy my max hp total on my class card and use my ring to have my current one. That way when cleric goes 'heal to full' i can just look and see what my current lvl vs max is easier.

I'd been using a crit success ring for many years. Sadly, for the first time ever it slid off and I lost it in the dungeon. Sigh.

The knitting rings mentioned look like they might make a good replacement.

Does anyone have recommendations for a good quality knitting tracker ring? I did some quick searching and found stuff of dubious quality/availability. Would be glad to hear about good experiences with a particular vendor/product.

OOO! A wearable digital life bar so the healers can see how close to the red zone you are.

Now, I am not being serious, but the idea really tickled me.

I'll also mention the CritSuccess ring but I'm not sure if they are still available? I wear two in each dungeon and have for a long time now. On one I set my max HP and on the other I set my current HP
