Hopefully Gen Con will be that convention.

I had a badge for SDCC, but have been resigned for several weeks that it was going to be cancelled.

I have more hope for Gen Con, but even that is beginning to fade. It just feels like I'm watching dominoes fall in slow motion.

Doom and gloom aside, I have every confidence that when we do start up again those running our events will do everything they can to make sure it is in a safe environment.

This is definitely a bad year for Cons. Late fall conventions may still happen, but I wouldn't count on anything over the summer.

On the bright side, insofar as there is a bright side, most estimates for a vaccine were a 12-18 months that I saw, so at least next year's Con season should be ok.

i'm hoping for gencon, but not at a health risk. if it is a go, i'll be there. if it isn't, I would hope for a cancellation and not a postponement. I hate to think we got this horrible virus beat and we grow lax just to spike the effects again.

please everyone, take care of yourselves and we will get through this.

This is incredibly insightful.

We should definitely take an opportunity to assess our previous practices and determine if they should or should not resume.

Handshakes maybe should be a thing of the past, as an example.

I definitely think handshakes should be a thing of the past. it's probably a topic for another thread, but if and when True Dungeon is available again, will any temporary changes be needed (assuming its available before we have a vaccine).

I'm sure the powers that be are already having these types of conversations, but it wouldn't be unlike this group to offer their suggestions. For example, do you insert more bubble breaks to allow people to wipe down any props with sanitizer? Do they require participants to wear face masks? Do they reduce group size back to 8 to allow people to spread out just a little more in the rooms? Do they spread out the run start times a little so there's less congestion at registration and at epilog? I know some of these suggestions reduce the money TD would make, but it would be temporary and as long as they can offset variable costs, it would make a positive contribution to their bottom line. Besides, keeping TD active and in people's minds will also help drive token sales. Just a few thoughts that have surfaced during all this extra time. Anything that gives us opportunity to play is positive in my mind.

Anyway, I trust they'll make the right decisions and when things do pick up again, I will be there.
