TOPIC: Game of Thrones: So far, so...?

Hi all!

I was curious if anyone here is watching the Game of Thrones series on HBO, which debuted a couple of weeks ago.

Do you like it so far?

I have not read any of the books, but had heard great things about them. I've seen the first two episodes and am definitely enjoying watching it.

And the eye-candy is nice too!

I think it is great so far. I haven't read the books in ten years. But it seems similar, i.e. don't fall in love with any of the characters because they are all on borrowed time. The effects and costumes are awesome too.

I don't have HBO, but watched the first episode during a free preview weekend. I have a friend who is recording episodes on DVDs for me. Looks great, but it's kind of hard to watch, knowing what's going to happen, especially to favorite characters.

I've never read the books (seems to be a recurring theme here), but a friend of mine is a big fan of the series and has pretty much spoiled the entire series for me several years ago. It's definitely a well written series and the acting is well above average, probably going to win several awards (and with good reason), but I just don't see myself coming back for more. It just never grabbed my attention.

So far...I like it!

I agree about the characters - I remember when I read the first book, and was like "WAIT...WHAT?!! NOOOOO!!!!" And then it kept on happening with the subsequent books.

I think Peter Dinklage is perfect at Tyrion so far. Though I'm a little surprised at how their portraying Danaerys (spelling?) - she's seems really pathetic right now.

Argh - I was going to say I was looking forward to X happening to Y, but I don't want to give any spoilers!

I love it... I am current on the books (might be re-reading them again soon!)

I keep imaging a certain "crowning", the use of a needle, and the vengeance of a lady... I love the casting, the cinenmatography(sp?) and the pacing of the episodes... the accuracy to the spirit of the book.. it is awesome!

but words of warning.. don't get attached to anyone... main characters end up umm... leaving the series unexpectedly... and death, sometimes, doesn't mean what you think it mean....

Jeff.. this is not the series you are looking for.. no ideas from this series... there is nothing here which would translate into a dungeon... (folks help me here!! Jedi mind tricks from this distance are taxing!)
