Hey Y'all,

For the Adventures of Lady Dazzy, Lady Elk and Commodore Feathernese(I.E. My folks and I trip to dland in costume) I recently made myself a black faux leather with stamped floral pattern waist cincher and little vest for a more pirate-ish look than my costumes(that and I don't have my other costumes to pull from currently). Which I plan on wearing with a white fitted peasant blouse and some black jeans.
Anyways I was thinking it might be fun to wench in at the con. Would anyone have a pair of leather bracers I might be able to borrow for the day?
I'd love to have a sword but I know that wouldn't fly at the con. But oohh soo shiny. *stares at shiny swords*
*shakes head* Sorry easily distracted by bright and shiny objects.
My brothers have swords, but they are these giant two handed ones, that are nearly as big as me, so you know that ain't gonna work. *little laugh*

But I thought bracers might work. So anyone of the volunteers got a small pair I could borrow one day for in the Tavern?
Or perhaps point me in the right direction to look for them?

All the ladies ones I've seen are fabric to match a bodice. Blegh. What fun is that???

I'm planning to make myself a pair of black leather bracers with conchos/crystals etc for the con. I only plan to wear them on one day, and you could borrow them the other if you want. I haven't decided yet if I want to wear them Friday or Saturday.

I use the new Dr Scholl memory foam ones. The best ones are blue, and if you turn them over there is a purple section under the heel.

I have these in my work shoes that I stand for 8-9 hours at a time, and love them.

You can buy foam swords, like the ones they had in the tavern this year, on Ebay, I think.
Its funny how something that takes multiple days to set up comes down in a few hours...

Or the place that supplied the fake weapons in the blacksmith...that is where I got my +2 mace!!!

They are most excellent weapons - a bit on the pricey side - but very good quality!

I appreciate that info guys, but I don't think I could afford such props. Plus who knows if that company would even be represented at SoCal. Its exhibit area is nowhere near the size and variety of Indy's Exhibit Hall.

Even the bracers aren't needed. I just thought it would be fun if I could borrow a pair. *smiles* Thanks for the comments guys.

Gary,
What's the name of the place that sold the weapons like were used in the blacksmith shop? I wouldn't mind ordering a dagger from them to have for my costume for Gencon next year.

These guys got into latex weapons too (after their foam weapon construction for full combat), like the ones Gary was talking about! Very high detail, and a con fave since they started coming 2 years ago!

I can't remember - I thought it was Alex something...

Jenn, Lance, Lexi, anyone... - do you recall the name of the place that loaned the mock-weapons???

Those were scupted latex foam weapons at the con. Very expensive. As

for insoles. Whenever wear boots at work I go with double pillow Dr

Scholls. They are disposable and if the boots are already snug it might

make them too tight. If you have a little room in them and you know you

will be on your feet all day I'd say they might be ok and inexpensive for

your needs.
