Donald Rients: Will you be okay with this law being used against you? As a restaurant manager, is it okay for me to refuse service to you due to my "sincerely held beliefs" that your religious practices are offensive?
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

Utterly unsurprising.

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

Salesforce a big tech company in Indy has said they will reduce funding in the state. Good for them.

And that's why I pointed out she opened the store DECADES before gay marriage was an issue.
But now you're suggesting a religious test, saying that people of certain faiths should be prohibited from opening certain businesses. And that's a violation of equal employment opportunity rights.

If you cannot open a store an service all people the same then yes you should not be opening a store. I don't care of that is 'religious' or bigoted reasons.

Edit: to let some claim that it is okay to discrimination for religious reason and not for other reasons would be to give them a privilege that others don't have. So I say no discrimination regardless of the reason.

There are two kinds of people that I hate. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.

Ha Ha Ha. The only things I hate are toilets that don't flush correctly and beheaders.

Seriously, it depresses me that the republican party can't get past being at least neutral regarding these relatively insignificant social issues like gay rights that end up turning too many voters against them.

Meanwhile the country and indeed the world fall deeper and deeper into irretrievable chaos as a result of repeated obvious mistakes, seeming ineptitudes, and the overall disastrous policy choices of - naive? - pie in the sky? - dishonest? liberal democrats who find themselves with way too much power, like Obama, Pelosi and Reed.
Of all the traits of humanity, there is only one we do not share with other species, which sets us apart and makes us unique <br />-- the ability to imagine.

When I lived in Indiana I had the opportunity to vote for both Richard Lugar and Lee Hamilton. Not that I always agreed with them, but I always respected them. Two giants in their respective parties whose like will not be seen again for some time in our hyper polarized political discourse.

Losing a senate race in Indiana is quite a feat for a republican, but they managed it when they decided Lugar was not "pure" enough.
Ironically a lot of the credit/blame for the current situation goes to George McGovern. The commission he headed in the late 60s which reformed the Deomcratic Party nomination process to reduce the power of "party bosses." The unintended consequence is a primary process dominated by the most extreme portions of each party.

Disbeeleaf is so off base it's not worth responding.

How typical and small of Pence. Very disappointing and surprising. Hope the NFL makes a statement as strong as GenCon's.

Certainly GC couldn't move this year, but I would love it if it relocated next year if this right-to-discriminate law is still on the books.

The NFL and NCAA should weigh in and if you remember the extreme anti latino Arizona Bill of a few years ago, it was the NFL's threat to pull a Superbowl that turned the tide. Gencon is a good start but I do not think Pence is crazy enough to fight sports
